On island ... it’s all about the 4th of July and the fireworks. That’s the way it happens on Tybee Island.
The 4th is a hoot! Happy America everybody!
It is a blatant love of America and Family.
Tony Ryan hosts a giant “Bocce Ball” tournament on the Beach in LOW AS

There’ll be live music on the Pier which will be crowded so you
need to arrive early to get a drink and find your dance spot.
The dancing is wild on the 4th of July.
It’s unpatriotic to not dance on island.
But before you go to the Pier ... go to the Beach and leave your
chairs or your blanket because ... at dark:30 the fireworks begin
and the Beach is more crowded than the Pier!
You have to plan in advance and leave your spot.
Islanders leave a tent with chairs and a cooler.

Lots of kids will wander around wearing “Glow Sticks” in the dark
which are for sell on the Pier ... so you may have to go back.
Walking the Beach at night on the 4th of July means you’ll

Born and raised in Savannah on the Isle of Hope, Rick wanted to be
a professional freshwater tournament fishing master. In his early

and has been a superintendent for over 20 years. Now a family man

Never considering himself as a ‘people person’ (uh oh), Rick was
‘railroaded’ into the job. Thrown into the family business mix of
Benny’s, you sink or swim. Rick swam. Starting out doggie paddling,
with the help of Ms. Rita Belle, his trainer (which is hilarious because 1 (29 oz.) can peach slices, undrained
she trained me too), Rick was backstroking through the pool soon 1 (20 oz.) can pineapple chunks, undrained
enough. 1 lb. strawberries, stemmed and quartered

So I had to ask Rick the 3: ½ pint blueberries

Passion: Fishing (silly question that)

Sounds like Rick has got the life! The go to drink is the “Beach mix (this includes the juice from the cans). Mix well, until

quality revitalization and redevelopment for our residents, merchants,
and visitors. This step, and the foundation we’ve built with the program
since 2010, continues to create an even better city for living, working
and playing year-round. The balanced approach for long-term success is
at the core of this economic development, historic preservation model.
This is what the program is proving for our community, especially with
partnerships being strengthened. Each program throughout the nation is
recognized for their unique local efforts and I am proud that our city is
setting an example on Georgia’s coast.”

Preservation efforts on Tybee, which is at the base of the Program’s
foundation, continue to be supported and encouraged. The Historic
Preservation Economic Impact Study, Beyond Tourism, which the City of
Tybee Island helped underwrite, shows that preservation efforts truly do
have a positive impact for the businesses, citizens, and visitors to our
island. To read more about the tremendous benefits of preserving our
coastal community, please visit the Historic Preservation Commission’s
