IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Classes will start, as planned, on August 31st, 2020.

•   All classes will be given remotely.

•   If the situation improves, classes may also be offered in-person.

Winter and summer semesters have already been given by remote classes with
success.

•   Students use academic learning tools like Via, Visio, Teams, Studio Yuja and have
    access to all pedagogical materials on the ZoneCours plateform.

REMOTE CLASSES

• Free online tools to support online learning (including Office 365 licence)

• Several teaching methods are used: lectures,               simulations,   role-
  playing, team assignments and student presentations.

• Advantages:
    Flexibility
    Students can participate actively regardless of their time zone.
    Access to professors and the same quality teaching as in-person
     courses
    Students interact with one another thereby improving the learning
     experience and keeping their motivation to learn.

To confirm your admission, just register for your classes!
Conditional admission
•   Check the conditions in your admission letter in your HEC en ligne
•   If you must provide official transcripts for your university studies: we will
    send you an email with the details on how to proceed in submitting these
    documents to us.
Preparatory phase
•   Check the Preparatory Phase letter in your HEC en ligne
•   All courses must be completed within the first year of your program.

Registration for the fall 2020 term will start on June 10th. Some programs’ registration will
begin later. Always check your email for the precise dates and times for your specialization.

UPDATES - IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES
    (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)
MY IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTS AND THE COVID-19

 • Foreign students do not need CAQ and valid study permit to study from abroad

 • You will be blocked at some point (probably for your biometrics or medical exam)

 • We don’t have any idea how it will go, unfortunatlely. Our advices are based on
   what we already know and on the regulations valid today (may change quickly).

 • We have sent our concerns to both ministries.
IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES

 • Between 8 and 20 weeks of processing delays in normal times, depending on where
   you make the application.

 •   Passport needed
      Valid for the lenght of the studies, more 6 months
      You can begin the application for the CAQ if you are renewing your passport.
RULES

 If you decide to come to Montreal:
 Deadline to give your immigration documents to the Registrar Office:
 September 14th, 2020
 January 16th, 2021

 Our advice: Do your immigration paperwork even if you are still not sure about
 your decision to come to HEC Montréal.
CAUTION

 •   Never leave your home country without having the confirmation of the study
     permit.

 • Never arrive to Canada as a tourist if your intention is to study. Student can be
   turned back at the border and accused of making a false declaration
   (inadmissibility for 5 years).
CAQ

Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ) from Ministère de l’Immigration, de la
francisation et de l’Inclusion (MIFI)
 •   116 $
 •   Ask for it as soon as you are admitted
 •   Online AND by mail
CAQ

 Delays : 20 working days after reception of your documents at the MIFI office -
 7 to 8 weeks now

  • No official confirmation sent by the MIFI
  • Send the documents by Fedex, Purolator, DHL, etc.
  • Documents needed are written on your personalized check list.
  • When you receive the online confirmation, please double check the informations.
  • You can provide the online confirmation for the study permit application and at
    School.
STUDY PERMIT

Study permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

 • 150 $
 • Normally, after you have received the confirmation of your CAQ
 • Delay varies depending on where you live.
 • Biometrics are now mandatory for everybody ($ and additional delays)
 • Medical exams or criminal records might be needed ($ and additional delays)
 • Additional documents may be requested by your country's visa office.
STUDY PERMIT

In the same application, apply also for:
    • Spouse and children (work permit and study permit if needed)
    • COOP work permit
    • Free
    • Mandatory to complete your consultation project
    • If done online, answer « yes » to this question:

•    If done at a Visa Application Center (paper application), write an explanation
     letter

Where to apply?

 •   In a Visa Application Center (VAC) – Biometrics are taken at the same time.

 •   On line. Biometrics are done later.

         TRV or ETA are given for free with the study permit / work permit
