Main purpose of the job
This role will be based in the Global Partnerships Team, which is responsible for supporting the growth of delivery
of the University’s UK and international partnership work. The Global Partnerships team is a highly valued team,
and the growth and success of global partnerships is a key component of the University’s new five year strategic
plan.
The key focus of this role is providing a high level of Higher Education quality assurance expertise and support to
the Director of Global Partnerships and Dean of Academic Partnerships (UK), a range of academic colleagues
across the University and our global partners to ensure our relationships work well, and we adhere to the
University’s policies and UK Higher Education statutory, regulatory or government body requirements on Quality
Assurance. The University has over 40 partners and the post-holder will work as part of the small, dynamic Global
Partnerships team.
The remit of the role includes travel within the UK and overseas (except during the pandemic).
Key areas of responsibility
This Job Description sets out a range of duties that will be undertaken by the post holder within the Global
Partnerships Office. Whilst every attempt has been made to ensure that it is comprehensive, it may occasionally
be necessary for the post-holder to undertake certain other reasonable duties at a similar level in support of the
University.
The post-holder will report into the Global Partnerships Quality Manager, but will also liaise closely with the
Director of Global Partnerships and Dean of Academic Partnerships (UK). The team is relatively small and nimble,
so flexibility, being comfortable with autonomy and a ‘can-do’ attitude are key requisites.
The main purposes of the job are:
1. Act as a key source of expert advice on the University’s quality assurance arrangements for all overseas
and UK partnerships.
2. Pro-actively support all UWL Academic Partners on a regular and ad-hoc basis, including:
a. Monitor academic partner performance, in particular to lead on the monitoring of outcomes and
action plans from all Annual Partnership Reviews and Partnership Contract Reviews;
b. Provide clear written and verbal guidance to Academic Partners as required;
c. Lead on the collation and submission of partner-related matters in accordance with Higher
Education statutory, regulatory or government body requirements and external annual monitoring
requirements, and other documentation to overseas education bodies/agencies;
d. Conducting audit and approval activities for partners in the UK and overseas (as part of the Global
Partnerships Team). This will require fairly regular travel to partner sites - approximately six-eight
UK visits (including London) and two-three European/international visits a year;
Page 1 of 5e. Liaise with the Global Partnerships Quality Manager, Director of Global Partnerships and Dean of
Academic Partnerships (UK) regarding strategic development of academic programmes.
3. Keep abreast of UK Higher Education statutory, regulatory or government body and global partnerships-
related policies and good practice in order to inform compliance requirements and developments at
academic partners and share leading practice with senior University management. Attend and present at
various internal committees.
4. Represent the Global Partnerships Office on internal committees and working groups where required,
including School/College Quality Committees.
5. Design and develop new processes and supporting documents to enhance quality assurance, including the
development of protocols and frameworks, guidance materials and toolkits.
6. Design the University staff and international partner staff development on quality assurance processes
relating to partnership working, including the development of training toolkits. Advise Academic
Partnership Link Tutors and internal stakeholders and lead on training exercises including regular
Academic Partner Link Tutor Training.
7. Liaise with the UWL Academic Quality and Standards Office on a range of academic partnership quality
matters, including approval activities, External Examiner reporting and partnership monitoring.
8. Support the University on the development of policy and strategy in relation to global partnership quality
assurance and enhancement.
9. In liaison with various stakeholders, support the organisation of the annual Academic Partnerships
Conference at UWL.
10. In liaison with the Global Partnerships Quality Manager and the wider Global Partnerships team, review
and advise on updates to existing partnership materials, including the Global Partnerships Operations
Manuals.
11. Carry out any other duties of a similar nature and of a commensurate level, as determined from time to
time by the Global Partnerships Quality Manager.
In addition to the above areas of responsibility the position maybe required to undertake any other reasonable
duties relating to the broad scope of the position.

Other visits (including London) and two-three European/international visits a year, so the
post-holder must be willing to spend time away from home and have a degree of
flexibility. A valid passport is essential.
