JUNIOR TRAINING CAMP INFORMATION GUIDE The Dallas Cowboys are excited about possibly hosting a Dallas Cowboys / Gatorade Junior Training Camp (JTC) at your location. Please read the enclosed information carefully to ensure that you understand the cooperative elements of the program and your organization’s responsibilities in regards to their implementation. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact Whitney Brandon at (972) 556-9955 or wbrandon@dallascowboys.net. We thank you for your interest and look forward to work- ing with you and your students.
WHAT IS JTC & HOW DOES IT WORK? The Dallas Cowboys / Gatorade Junior Training Camp (JTC) is a complimentary, grass roots football clinic facilitated by the Dallas Cowboys for elementary school students (both boys and girls) between the ages of 7 and 14. JTC features the educational and recreational benefits of football presented in a safe and fun environment. For several years, the program has been very successful at elementary schools in Dallas, Irving, Arlington, Coppell and other area school districts. The curriculum for JTC is very safe and was developed by Gatorade so that ANY student can participate - regardless of age, gender, ability or experience. The purpose of JTC is to emphasize fun, instead of winning. JTC is a COOPERATIV E outreach program — the Dallas Cowboys JTC staff provide all of the necessary equipment and help YOUR SCHOOL facilitate the program on-site. However, the success of your school’s JTC depends entirely on your own organization and teacher / volunteer interaction with the participating students. The school contact person is responsible for arranging at least six (6) volunteers to assist with the event implementation - assigning each volunteer to one of the six football drill stations. The volunteers do not need to be athletically inclined to conduct the assigned stations. The JTC staff will be on hand to instruct and provide assistance. It is also suggested that the school contact person divide the participating students into six (6) individual groups prior to the start of the program.
SCHOOL / ORGANIZATION REQUIREMENTS
Each participating school or organization must meet the following requirements in
order to have the JTC appear at their facility.
Each child MUST have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to participate! Children will not be
allowed to participate in the clinic without a waiver. No exceptions will be made. Please allow
am ple time to distribute and collect the signed waivers from each child.
Each school or organization must provide a minimum of six (6) volunteers. The camp has six (6)
stations, therefore one (1) volunteer, teacher, or coach must be provided per station.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THERE ARE NOT AT LEAST SIX (6) VOLUNTEERS PRESENT WHEN THE JTC
STAFF ARRIVE AT THE FACILITY, THE PROGRAM WILL UNFORTUNATELY NOT PROCEED.
Each school or organization must provide a safe playing field with enough space to accommo-
date six (6) stations consisting of approximately 20 x 20-yard space. No tar cement, concrete,
etc. can be used. No exception.
The volunteers must meet with the JTC Coordinator prior to the session. At that time, the
curriculum will be reviewed and t he coordinator will demonstrate the drills.
Each school is required to provide a t able/stand for a cooler of Gatorade (provided by Gatorade)
and trash cans/bags for the discarded cups.
A gymnasium, auditorium or cafeteria is required for motivational talk and performance by
ROWDY, the official mascot of the Dallas Cowboys.
A TV / VCR must be provided for Rowdy’s introduction video and performance.
NOTE: All equipment needed to conduct the camp including cones,
blocking dummies, footballs, Gatorade, coolers, and cups is be provided
by the Dallas Cowboys Football Club and must be returned to the JTC
staff at the end of the clinic.TENTATIVE JTC AGENDA
