Pride March
LOUD & PROUD
Fluff up those feather boas and put out your rainbow flags as we march with
pride and solidarity through the streets of St Kilda! Midsumma Pride March
brings us together to stand tall, be proud, and revel in the celebrations with
family, friends, and allies.
This year, Midsumma Pride March will highlight the diverse humans,
personalities, groups, sexualities, and experiences that make our queer
communities so beautifully colourful. Everyone deserves to march, and
everyone deserves to be heard, to feel safe, and to belong. We will
remember that we are stronger as one and greater together!
Dykes on Bikes precede the marching contingent as per tradition,
with the march itself led by Boon Wurrung Elders and a Rainbow
Aboriginal Float, LGBTQIA+ youth and followed by the Premier
of Victoria, Minister for Equality and the Creative Industries and
Commissioner for Gender and Sexuality.
Rock up, frock up and fly your flags from 11am,
as we embark on the kilometre-long fanfare along
Fitzroy St, waving to the new Victorian
Pride Centre, and into Catani Gardens for an
afternoon of post-Pride festivities.

A Road to Pride
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the
decriminalisation of homosexuality in Victoria
Melbourne Pride is a State Government initiative, delivered by festival partner
Midsumma (of course!), to commemorate 40 years since the decriminalisation
of homosexuality in Victoria. Melbourne Pride will be a full day of celebrations,
with the streets of Fitzroy flickering in rainbow as we acknowledge the
courage and resilience of our LGBTQIA+ community, celebrate the
history, and build on the momentum for equality.
Melbourne Pride will showcase live performances, music,
circus, speakers, activities, community stalls and interactive
demonstrations. Street traders and local businesses will
welcome us all with open arms and showcase all the
fabulous things Yarra has to offer!
This commemorative event is intended to have a
significant statewide impact with a livestream of the event
celebrations. Celebrated far and wide, the statewide event
will include activations and events across regional areas and
every corner of Victoria leading up to the Melbourne Pride
city-based street party event with contributions also
captured and shared across the digital platform
(see website for regional event details).
