History Pin
Have you ever looked at your surroundings and wondered,
“What did this building or street corner look like a hundred
years ago?” Well, wonder no more! The Craigleith Heritage
Depot is now on Historypin.org, a website that allows you to
pin photographs (both old and new), videos and audio
recordings to a gigantic Google map of the world! You can
now experience how familiar environments have changed
over time in front of you. To explore please visit our “Virtual
Museum” on the BMPL website for a direct link to our
Historypin collections under ‘Resources’.

The basic engine of the site is Google Maps and a simple
interface lets you pin images to relevant places on the map,
and attach captions, stories and descriptions as well. With
the help of Street View, historic photos can be superimposed Historypin: Henry Pedwell Home (Errinrung Retirement Community)

A number of Collections have been included on the Depot’s Historypin site including Craigleith, Clarksburg and Thornbury as
well as the “Building History” videos. If you have photos that you would like to include, you can upload them once you register on
the site. For more information or if you need help with Historypin, please don’t hesitate to contact the Craigleith Heritage Depot!
