Dallas’ Fair Park, located just southeast of
downtown, is home to the annual Texas
State Fair, which runs from late September
into October each year and is the largest
state fair in the country. Fair Park, open
year-round, is linked by location to the
earliest state fair grounds, dating back to
1886. But most of the existing buildings
were constructed in the Art Deco style
specifically for the 1936 Exposition, which
celebrated the 100th anniversary of the
Texas Republic.

Today, Fair Park is the only intact and
unaltered pre-1950s world fair site
remaining in the U.S. The 227-acre
park, designated as a National Historic
Landmark in 1986, hosts more than 7
million visitors each year for the fair,
various sporting events and cultural
and entertainment events. Southeast
