I welcome new and existing families to the Norwood Morialta High School.

Norwood Morialta High School is a vibrant, progressive learning community attracting approximately
1500 students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. We are unique in that we have a
separate specialist middle school and senior school campus, catering for the differences in
adolescent development and promoting our ethos of excellence.

Our vision is for every student to graduate as an engaged global citizen to meet the challenges of a
changing world. This commitment is underpinned by our core values of Distinction, Diversity and
Respect and shaped by our focus of high standards, student well-being and internationalism.

On the Middle Campus our Year 8-10 learners engage in the International Baccalaureate Middle
Years Program (IBMYP) and undertake a range of subjects that support individual interests and
specialised learning. Our emphasis is to prepare our middle years learners to be thoughtful global
citizens who care about each other, are knowledgeable, principled, reflective, creative and open
minded. These learning opportunities are extended beyond the classroom where students are also
encouraged to join co-curricular activities, including leadership programs, lunch-time clubs, Rowing,
Pedal Prix, bands and ensembles, Debating, Mock Trials, the biennial Musical, annual Film Festival
and a wide range of sports.

There are many exciting features to our school and I invite you to browse the information in this
booklet and on our website to investigate the learning journeys undertaken by our students.

We look forward to working in partnership with you and your student in 2019.

Study Tours — host families needed
Norwood Morialta High School hosts a number of study tours from overseas countries, eg Japan and Thailand,
throughout the year. Families are encouraged to host students from these schools at least once during their schooling
at Norwood Morialta High School.
This involves hosting a student for approximately two weeks, providing
accommodation, meals and transport to the school. Involving them in
family activities, outings and showing them some of the sights around
Adelaide during the weekend is welcomed by the students.
Hosting a student from another country is a very rewarding experience and
supports the school’s values and international mindedness. A small
remuneration is also provided to the host families.
Sister School Exchanges & Overseas Cultural Tours
Norwood Morialta High School students may participate in a number of
overseas tours. These include a long standing sister school exchange with
Takahashi Senior High School in Japan, newly established sister school in
Turin, Italy and cultural tours to Greece and China.
Families who would like more information about hosting a student may contact the school on 8364 2299 or email:
