The teppam festival held at Sri Adi Kesava Perumal
Temple, Mylapore from Feb 4 to 8 was quite a spectacle.
Be it the brightly lit float, the tunes of the nadaswaram, the
alankaram in process or the fireworks, the devotees were
seen soaking in the sights with folded hands.
On the first three days, Sri Adi Kesava Perumal is taken
on the float while on the last two days, Sri Ramar and Sri
Pezhalwar make rounds of the temple tank. The highlight of
the festival is the thirumanjanam which is held for the deity
on the third day at the temple tank.

Since the first week of January, Mahima
Cultural Center, a day care and after school
centre at Mylapore, have been doing their bit to
reduce plastics by distributing cloth bags to its
students. The teachers and staff also talked to
the parents about the need to use bio-degrada-
ble bags for shopping.

On Feb 3, special prayers were organised at Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore to
mark the 50th death anniversary of former chief minister C. N. Annadurai.
The guests included HR&CE minister, Sevoor. S. Ramachandran, Mylapore
MLA R. Nataraj, Cheyyar MLA K. Mohan and R. Sudarshan, joint commissioner,
HR&CE.
500 dhotis and 300 sarees were distributed to the general public by the

The members of S. S. Jain Yuvak Sangh, Mylapore recently

The members, who divided themselves into four groups, went
to several areas including the Marina Beach, temples and railway

in the future.
