Hobie Class Association of North American and Hobie Fleet 126 of Michigan City, Indiana
Regatta Descriptive Information:
Join Hobie Fleet 126 of Michigan City, IN for the Hobie Division 10 Championship Regatta at the Washington Park Public
Beach in Michigan City, IN. World class sailors from around the U.S. and Canada will be competing head-to-head on high
performance catamaran sailboats in multiple races each day. The public is invited to join us up close as competitors
prepare their boats on the beach each morning. The planned start of the first race is 11:00 AM (CST) each day on a race
course set on the always challenging southern shore of Lake Michigan. This regatta is a Hobie Class HCANA Points
Regatta and Catamaran Racing Association of Michigan (CRAM) Season Series Regatta for Hobie 16s. Additional
regatta information may be found at the Hobie Class Division 10 website (http://www.div10.hobieclass.com).
Rules:
Hobie Class HCANA Points Regatta: The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2021-2024 Racing
Rules of Sailing (RRS). RRS 40.1 shall apply. RRS 44.1 is changed so that the One Turn Penalty replaces the Two Turn
Penalty. Participants sailing in the Hobie Class for this regatta must be current members of HCANA and will have a
separate start from non-class legal Hobie Cat boats (see below).
CRAM Season Series Regatta for Hobie 16 Fleet: Participants sailing in the CRAM Season Series Regatta and/or non-
class legal Hobie boats will be governed by the CRAM Policies And Procedures Revised March 2021 (See Link:
https://cramsailing.com/images/docs/CRAM_Policies-and-Procedures_APPROVED_20210307.pdf). Participants sailing
in the CRAM Season Series Regatta and/or non-class legal Hobie Cat participants will have a separate start from the
Hobie Class HCANA Points boats.
Venue:
Michigan City is located in NW Indiana 6 miles west of the
Michigan State Line. Exit 34B (US 421 N) off Interstate 94 in
Indiana. Proceed north on US 421 N that turns into Franklin
Street through Michigan City. Follow signs to Washington Park
Beach. Racing will be on Lake Michigan off the Washington
Park Beach. See venue site map attached below.
Sailing Instructions:
SIs will be posted on RegattaNetwork.com by June 21, 2021 and hard copies will be available at registration.
Communications:
The official notice board will be located at Race Headquarters in the Sunset Grill pavilion. An unofficial notice board will
be on RegattaNetwork.com. Sailors may bring and use VHF radio. Its use and restrictions will be described in the Sis.

Eligibility & Entry:
The event is open to all IHCA class legal Hobie and non-class legal Hobie sailboats. IHCA class legal and non-class legal
Hobie sailboats will have separate fleet starts (see Rules above). Participants sailing in the IHCA class legal fleet must be
current members of HCANA.
Registration & Fees:
Online registration is at https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/22558 . All participants (skipper, crew, volunteers, friends,
family and supports will be required to sign a Hobie Fleet 126 liability release form as well as a Covid-19 release form
from the Michigan City Park and Recreations Department at Race Headquarters during Registration Saturday morning
June 26, 2021 in order to participate in this regatta.

Standard Registration Fee (Ends 5:00 pm CST Monday June 21, 2021):
5:00 pm CST June 21, 2021 is the cutoff date for the following items:
• Free Washington Park Parking Passes for Participant Cars. Participants registering after June 21, 2021
are subject to daily Michigan City parking fee.
• Free Washington Park Boat Trailer Parking Passes for Participants. Participants registering after June 21,
2021 are subject to daily Michigan City trailer parking fee.
• Beach Boat Ramp Fee. Participants registering after June 21, 2021 are subject to daily Michigan City
beach ramp launch fee.
• RV Weekend Parking Fee is $30. Reserved RV parking spots (primitive) are available to participants that
online prior to 5:00pm CST June 21, 2021. Regatta Participants registering after June 21, 2021 are
subject to daily Michigan City parking fee.
• Tent Camping Fee is $30 for Regatta Participants. Reserved tent campsites (primitive) are available to
participants that register online prior to 5:00 pm CST June 21, 2021.
• Regatta T-Shirt available for purchase by Participants for $25.00 each that register online prior to the
Early Registration Discount cutoff of 5:00 pm June 14, 2021. Participants registering after June 14, 2021
may be able to purchase a regatta T-Shirt at the venue, if available, for $40.00 each.
• Attendance to Hospitality Hobie Division 10 Championship dinner scheduled for June 26, 2021.
Hobie Fleet 126 or CRAM Member Registration 3 (June 21, 2021 cutoff) $90
Non - Hobie Fleet 126 or CRAM Member Registration 4 (June 21, 2021 cutoff) $125
Participates will still be able to register after Standard Registration Fee ends. They may do so online or onsite
at race headquarters up to 9:15 am Saturday morning, June 26, 2021.

Washington Park Parking at Race Venue:
Arrangements have been made with the Michigan City Park Board for participant onsite car and boat trailer parking at a
designated location in the Washington Park Lot immediately west and north of the Sunset Grille Pavilion. Please see the
venue site map below for car and boat trailer parking locations. Parking passes for the regatta weekend will be issued to
all regatta participants that register for the regatta on or before 5:00 pm CST June 21, 2021. Participants that registered
for the regatta on or prior to June 21, 2021 will be added to a Hobie Fleet 126 Participant Parking List with assigned
weekend parking pass for car, RV and boat trailer that allows for use of the beach boat ramp. Participants registered on
or before June 21, 2021 will receive the weekend parking pass at the Washington Park Entry Booth upon arrival at the
race venue upon showing valid ID to the parking attendant. Hobie Fleet 126 Parking Support personnel will be on hand to
direct participants to the designated boat unloading and setup area as well as the designated car, boat trailer and RV
parking locations. Please follow the instructions of Hobie Fleet 126 Parking Support personnel upon arrival at the race
venue. Participants that register after 5:00 pm (CST) June 21, 2021 will be required to pay the daily Michigan City
parking fee upon entry into Washington Park and will be subject to an additional boat trailer and boat ramp
launch fee.
Weekend Boat Storage on Washington Park Public Beach:
Arrangements have been made with the Michigan City Park Board for participant boat storage on the Washington Park
Public Beach for the regatta weekend. Boats will launch from a designated area adjacent to the beach boat ramp on the
Public Beach during the regatta weekend and sail to the racecourse on Lake Michigan for racing. After daily racing is
completed, boats are requested to return to the Washington Park Public Beach for boat storage. Upon arrival at the race
venue, participants are requested to proceed to the northwest corner of the Washington Park parking lot near the beach
boat ramp (see venue site map below). Participants are requested to setup boats in the area of the parking lot near the
beach boat ramp, unload boats from trailers upon setup and transport boats over the beach boat ramp to the public beach
storage area designated for weekend boat storage during the regatta. Please follow instructions of Hobie Fleet 126
Beach Support personnel for directions regarding where to store boats on the public beach. Participants are requested to
bring and use sand augers to secure boats on the beach during the regatta.

Risk Statement:
Refer to RRS 3. By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially
dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather,
failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and
fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic
injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes.

Custom designed 2021 Hobie Division 10 Championship
T-Shirts (long sleeve, climate lite) priced at $25.00 each
will be available for purchase at online registration for regatta
participants who register online prior to 5:00 pm CST June 14,
2021. These iconic regatta T-Shirts are the best you’ll see all
season. Participants must select from available sizes during
online regatta registration. Participants that register after
June 14, 2021 may be able to purchase regatta T-Shirt at
the venue, if available, for $40.00 each.

contact 4411 Inn & Suites directly for room rates and reservations (identify yourself as a Hobie Fleet 126 Regatta
participant). Please note that hotel room demand is high in the summer and rooms are available on a first come

Regatta Onsite Tent Camping:
Arrangements have been made with the Michigan City Park Board for participant onsite tent camping at a designated
location in Washington Park immediately east of the Sunset Grille Pavilion. Please see the venue site map below.
Participants must register online prior to 5:00 pm CST June 21, 2021 to reserve an onsite tent campsite for the regatta
weekend and pay the tent camping fee of $30.00. Onsite tent campsites may not be available to participants
registering for the regatta after June 21, 2019.
Regatta Onsite RV Parking:
Arrangements have been made with the Michigan City Park Board for participant onsite RV parking at a designated
location in the Washington Park Lot immediately west of the Sunset Grille Pavilion. Please see the site map below.
Participants must register online prior to June 21, 2021 to reserve a RV Parking spot for the regatta weekend and pay the
RV parking fee of $30.00. Onsite RV parking spots may not be available to participants registering for the regatta
after June 21, 2021.
Hospitality:
All Regatta Participants, Sponsors, Michigan City Yacht Club members & Friends are invited to attend the Hobie Division
10 Championship Dinner on Saturday evening from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Michigan City Yacht Club located next to
the Fish Camp Restaurant (see venue site map below). Food and beverage service will be provided and served by the
Fish Camp Restaurant in coordination with the Regatta Chairman. The cost for this dinner is $30 per adult ($25.00 food +
$5.00 disposable plates, cutlery & napkins; sales tax; gratuity) and $15.00 per child 12 years of age and under.
Reservations for this dinner may be made online at the regatta registration website. The Menu includes: Seared Breast of
Chicken with Roasted Garlic Lemon Caper Butter & Tomato Confit; Roasted Fish; Roasted Rosemary Garlic Potato

Wedges; Mixed Grilled Vegetables; Fruit Salad; Tossed Green Salad with Ranch and Italian; Rolls and Butter. Service
will be buffet style. Dinner will be open to regatta participants / guests and MCYC members who make a reservation for
dinner prior to 5:00 pm CST Monday, June 21, 2021. The capacity for food service is 65 people for this dinner on a first
come basis. So make your reservations early as the food and drink will be awesome.
