OUR     HEROES
 By P6C and Myah S6

Primary 6C and Myah S6 have worked together on a
project called ‘Heroes’. This eBook shows the pupils’
development work. The final outcomes have been
produced in stained glass. These pieces are displayed in
the virtual gallery on the school’s Facebook page.

Myah’s project with P6C is the final outcome for her
Interdisciplinary Project for the Scottish Baccalaureate in
Languages. She has used her language skills to share
this project via eTwinning with schools in Bulgaria, Italy,
Luxembourg, Spain and Turkey. An overview of the work
done in these countries can be seen in this eBook.

Thanks go to Mrs Loughlin for helping with the texts
which accompany the illustrations, to Miss Bindley for
her support in art lessons and to Mrs Morton for advice
on project design and implementation. Leona Stewart
(www.leonastewartglass.co.uk) shared her skills with the
class and the girls and boys thoroughly enjoyed seeing
their designs take shape in stained glass.

The translations into French and Spanish are Myah’s
own. Frau Grote provided the German and Italian
texts. A big thank you goes to Lara in S1 who
translated from English into Turkish.

KYLE

I chose a half rugby player half
tiger. This inspired me because he
is fast and strong. I chose this
character because I like rugby
players and I like tigers. This rugby
player plays for New Zealand and
Auckland, Chiefs, Hurricanes,
Counties, North Harbour and the
Wellington's. I really enjoyed
doing stained glass and would
love to do it again.

J'ai choisi un demi-tigre et un demi-homme comme inspiration car il
est rapide et vigoureux. J'ai choisi mon personnage parce que j'aime
les joueurs de rugby et j'aime les tigres aussi. Ce joueur de rugby
joue pour la Nouvelle-Zélande, Auckland et beaucoup d'autres
équipes. J'ai beaucoup aimé le projet de vitraux et j'aimerais en faire
un autre à l'avenir.

Ich habe einen halben Tiger und einen halben Rugby Spieler
ausgewählt. Das hat mich inspiriert, weil er schnell und stark ist. Ich
habe diese Figur gewählt, weil ich Tiger und Rugby Spieler mag.
Dieser Rugby Spieler spielt für New Zealand and Auckland, Chiefs,
Hurricanes, Counties, North Harbour und Wellington's. Ich habe das
Projekt sehr genossen und hoffe, es nochmal machen zu können.

RORY

I decided to do a sunset because
I have done it before and wanted
to try do in other ways. I was
going to do a joint project with
Hamish’s cat but at the end we
were both happy with our own
drawings and didn’t see the need
to put them together.

J'ai décidé de faire un coucher du soleil parce que je l'ai
déjà fait et je voulais en essayer un autre. J'allais travailler
avec Hamish et son chat, mais à la fin, nous étions
contents de faire les projets individuels et donc, nous
n'avons pas travaillé ensemble.

Ich habe mich dafür entschieden, einen Sonnenuntergang
zu malen, weil ich das schon einmal gemacht habe und es
nochmal auf eine andere Art versuchen wollte. Ich wollte
zuerst ein gemeinsames Projekt mit Hamish und seiner
Katze machen, aber am Ende waren wir beide zufrieden mit
unseren eigenen Ergebnissen und fanden es nicht
notwendig, sie zusammenzufügen.

Ho deciso di dipingere un tramonto perchè l’ho dipinto
già una volta e volevo farlo di un altro genere. Primo
volevo fare un progetto insieme a Hamish e il suo gatto
ma poi alla fine eravamo sodisfatti die nostri propi
resultati e non era necessario di congiungerli.

AIMEE

For my hero I chose J.K. Rowling because she
wrote all eight Harry Potter books. J.K. Rowling is
also a Growth Mind Set Champion because she
never gave up when at least thirteen editors
turned her down. But she didn’t give up! She
kept on persevering and finally the first Harry
Potter was released! J.K. Rowling is a very
inspirational character and I find her so inspiring
and creative. I chose her because she is one of
my favourite authors, I want to be an author
when I am older. I liked doing this project and
the stained glass idea was very creative.

Pour mon héros, j'ai choisi J.K. Rowling parce qu'elle a écrit tous les huit livres de
Harry Potter. J.K. Rowling est aussi un symbole 'de l’état d’esprit progressif' parce
qu'elle n'a jamais abandonné quand au moins 13 éditeurs ont dit non à ses
projets. Mais elle n'a jamais abandonné. Elle a continué de persévérer, et
finalement le premier livre de Harry Potter a été publié. J.K. Rowling est une
personne très inspirante et je pense qu'elle est créative. Je l'ai choisie parce
qu'elle est une de mes auteures favorites et je voudrais être auteure quand je
serai plus grande. J'ai aimé ce projet et l'idée des vitraux, car c'était très créatif.

Ich habe J.K. Rowling als meine Heldin gewählt weil sie alle acht Harry Potter
Bücher geschrieben hat. J.K. Rowling ist außerdem ein Growth Mindset
Champion weil sie niemals aufgegeben hat, selbst als sie von 13 Verlagen
abgelehnt wurde. Aber sie hat nicht aufgegeben! Aber sie blieb hartnäckig und
endlich wurde der erste Harry Potter Band veröffentlicht. J.K. Rowling ist eine
inspirierende Persönlichkeit und ich finde sie inspirierend und kreativ. Ich habe
sie ausgewählt weil sie meine Lieblingsautorin ist und ich auch Autorin sein
möchte, wenn ich älter bin. Ich habe das Projekt gern gemacht und die Idee mit
dem Glas war sehr kreativ.

libro. J. K. Rowling è un personaggio che ispira molto ed è creativa. L’ho scelta
perchè è la mia autrice preferita. Anche io voglio essere una autrice quando
sono più grande. Mi è piaciuto molto il progetto e l’idea con il vetro è stato
molto creativo.

I chose the water lily as
my stained window
design because it was
amazingly complex and
fascinating with vibrant
colours. My design was
based on the place an
ideal water lily would be
as the name suggests.
The lily is typically found
floating on surfaces of
fresh water springs.

de agua dulce.

HAMISH

I have an amazing cat called Oreo
and she is black and white. I chose
her because she always friendly
and usually begging for attention
and is so cute. She usually tries to
get food from the kitchen maybe a
left over sausage. In my stained
glass project she is multi-coloured
because she is so smart for a cat
she knows how the tap works and
even tries to open doors.

J'ai une chatte fantastique, qui s'appelle Oreo et elle est noire et
blanche. Je l'ai choisie parce qu'elle est sympathique et veut de
l'attention tout le temps, et elle est mignonne. Normalement,
elle essaie de trouver de la nourriture dans la cuisine, peut-être
une saucisse. Pour mon projet de vitraux, elle est multicolore
parce qu'elle est très intelligente pour une chatte, et elle sait
comment fonctionne le robinet et essaie d'ouvrir les portes.

Ich habe eine tolle Katze namens Oreo und sie ist schwarz-
weiß. Ich habe sie ausgewählt, weil sie immer freundlich ist und
um meine Aufmerksamkeit bettelt und so süß ist. Sie versucht
immer, etwas zu essen aus der Küche zu bekommen, zum
Beispiel übrig gebliebene Würstchen. In meinem Glasprojekt ist
sie bunt, weil sie so schlau ist und weiß, wie der Wasserhahn
funktioniert und sie sogar versucht, die Tür zu öffnen.

Io ho un gatto figo che si chiama Oreo ed è nero-bianco. L’ho
scelto perchè è sempre buono, demosina attenzione ed è
troppo dolce. Prova sempre a ricevere qualcosa di mangiare in
cucina come dei Wurstel che sono rimasti. Nel mio pregetto di
vetro è multicolorato perchè è così furbo, sa come funziona il
rubinetto e prova ad aprire la porta.

Tengo una gata se llama Oreo y ella es blanca y negra,
Elegí mi gata porque ella es simpática todo el tiempo y
normalmente es pide por atención y ella es muy linda.
Ella quiere la comida en la cocina, quizás una salchicha.
En mi proyecto del vitral, ella es multicolor porque ella es
muy inteligente por una gata porque ella sabe como
usar la canilla y como abierto las puertas.

Benim çok muhteşem bir kedim var ve kedimin renkleri
siyah ve beyaz. Onu seçtim çünkü çok arkadaşça ve
normalde ilgilenmen için yalvarıyor ve bence bu çok tatlı.
Genellikle mutfaktan geriye kalan sosis gibi yemekleri
almaya çalışıyor. Benim cam projemde kedimin zekası
çok yönlü olduğu için; çok renkli. Kedim muslukların
nasıl çalıştığını biliyor ve bazen kapıları açıp kapatmaya
çalışıyor.

HARRY

My character was a half man half
tiger and he is one of my
favourite rugby players because
he plays for New Zealand,
Auckland rugby, Super rugby,
Taranaki and Blues. My character
really inspires me because he is
really fast and a great tackler. I
chose my character because I
like tigers and I like rugby
players. I have really enjoyed the
stain glass project.

BOSTON

My hero is my cat Jessica.
She is 15 years old and is a
great cat. I chose Jessica
because she likes to stay
with me in my bed and
keep me company when I
am unwell. When Jessica
joins me, I am happy about
it and that is why I chose
Jessica as my hero.

Mon héros est mon chat, Jessica. Elle a quinze ans et elle est
un chat génial. J'ai choisi Jessica parce qu'elle aime rester
avec moi dans mon lit, surtout quand je suis malade. Quand
Jessica reste avec moi, je suis content, et donc pour cette
raison, j'ai choisi Jessica pour mon héros.

Meine Katze Jessica ist meine Heldin. Sie ist 15 Jahre alt und
eine tolle Katze. Ich habe Jessica ausgewählt, weil sie gern
bei mir im Bett bleibt und bei mir ist wenn es mir nicht gut
geht. Wenn Jessica bei mir ist bin ich glücklich und deshalb
habe ich sie als meine Heldin gewählt.

Mia gatta Jessica è la mia eroina. Lei ha quindici anni ed è
molto figa. Ho scelto Jessica perchè a lei piace stare nel mio
letto e lei è al mio fianco quando sto male. Quando Jessica è
con me sono felice e per questo l’ho scelta come la mia
eroina.

Mi héroe es mi gata Jessica. Tiene quince años
y ella es una gata estupenda. Elegí Jessica
porque se gusta quedarse conmigo, en mi
cama y también cuando soy enfermo. Cuando
Jessica esta conmigo, estoy feliz y por eso, elegí
Jessica como mi héroe.

brightens up my day. Buddy
loves to play with me he also
likes to climb up his cat tree.
He loves cat treats and
cuddles.

viene a abrazarme. Buddy encanta jugar conmigo y usar el

For my hero I chose Simone Biles.
I chose her because I have a big
dream of being in the Olympics in
gymnastics so I have been doing
gymnastics for six years trying to
get better and better. She is the
best gymnast in the world. She
has won five medals in total and
four of them ore gold with her
amazing performances. It made
her an Olympics star. She is 22
and I hope to be like her.

ha estado haciendo gimnasia por seis anos porque quiero
mejorar mis destrezas. Ella es lo mejor gimnasta en el mundo.
Ha ganado cinco medallas en total y cuatro de estas son oro,
con la actuación fantástica. Ella es una estrella de Olímpicos.
Tiene 22 años, y espero que puedo estar como ella en el futuro.

I decided to put my pony Heidi
on the stained glass window. I
chose her because she is so
gentle, clever and kind. I love
to ride Heidi and she is always
good. Heidi is a very good
pony who is an all-rounder.
She loves horse treats, lots of
attention and hundreds of
cuddles!

together on the project. Alisha is in
the Scotland team for Tae Qwon Do.
She is 15 years old and a second Dan
black belt also she won the Chung
Yang cup. Currently I am a blue tag,
which means she is 7 belts higher
than me. Someday I want to be just
like her.
