ACHIEVEMENT BY TEAM BHEL GENERAL HOSPITAL
A 67 year old female known a case of diabetes and hypertension (mother of one of the
beneficiaries of BHEL Health Scheme) had presented herself with pain in abdomen for
over six months. After being investigated at BHEL hospital as well as Continental Hospital
by Oncologist (Cancer specialist) she was diagnosed as having Retroperitoneal
Liposarcoma of the abdomen (Cancer of abdomen) in an advanced stage.

On 24/02/2018 the surgical team of BHEL Hospital lead by Dr. PP Sharma operated on
this patient. The tumor was found to be occupying almost the entire abdominal cavity and
had attached itself to all the patient's internal organs including large Blood Vessels,
Kidneys, Uterus, Intestines, Appendix, and Ovaries.
In a difficult and meticulous procedure lasting for over 3 hours, the large tumor was dissected out from all its
attachments with great precision so as to avoid damaging those organs. The tumor when finally extracted was
found to weigh 5 kgs. The post-operative period was uneventful and the patient has recovered well.

The above mentioned surgery was part of a long series of complicated and advanced operations performed at
BHEL hospital by the surgical team.
Another example: 68 years old female a known case of Diabetes, Hypertension,
cholecystitis and cholelithiasis underwent Laparoscopic surgery on gall bladder, one
huge stone along with multiple smaller stones with empyema (gall bladder full of thick
pus) was removed Laparoscopically by surgical team in our hospital. The hugely enlarged
gall bladder was pressing on the vital ducts of Liver, Intestine & Blood Vessels. Surgery
was performed without damaging vital structures. The Post-Operative recovery was
uneventful and rapid. The patient was discharged with full satisfaction from BHEL
   General Hospital.
