Kia ora - A special welcome to our students, families and school community.
Matariki Whānau Picnic - Last Friday was such a wonderful day at our
school. Whaea Rangi and our school Kapahaka group gave a strong and
confident first performance of the year! Unlike most of this week, the
sun shone on us as we enjoyed a school picnic with our families! Our
learners then took their whanau into classrooms to show them their
Matariki creations. It was awesome to see the Kahikatea space creations
too! What a great way to celebrate Matariki at Pirongia School.
Science Fair – Congratulations to our year 7 and 8
learners for submitting such an array of science fair
projects. I have had a walk around the Science Fair and there are some
outstanding projects on display. We certainly have some strong scientific
thinkers within our school. Thanks to Mrs Cullen and Judith Mills who are
tasked with marking each individual project!
Trees for Survival –Trees for Survival is a charitable trust which works
with schools and local communities to grow and
plant native trees along waterways and on
erosion prone hillsides. Thanks to Sheree and
Hamish for working with our school to provide
the perfect location for this year’s project. Mrs D, Mrs Gibson
White, Room 3, Room 8 and our awesome parents who spent the day
planting. A special thank you to Fonterra for supplying lunch to our
planting crew and Duncan Loney, our Tree's for Survival sponsor.
He is an amazing man who enjoys providing opportunities like this program for children!
Gym Sports Fun – Good luck to the Kahikatea students having a go at the Gym Sports fun day
today! I hope you ace your routines!
Congratulations to our Pirongia School Students out and about achieving great things!
Each year Apiculture NZ holds an awards dinner and charity auction at their
annual conference, which took place in Rotorua last weekend. This year their
chosen charity was Heart Kids NZ. Year 4 student, Aaleeya, was asked to
speak to more than 250 guests about what it's like to be a Heart Kid, and
about her own heart journey, before helping "encourage" everyone to open
their wallets during the auction. Aaleeya did an incredible job and helped
raise over $37,000 for Heart Kids NZ! Well done Aaleeya, we are very
proud of you!

ensure each child achieves their potential.
To be accountable for student achievements means that as
board members we are constantly growing and developing
our skills and keeping up to date with information to make
informed decisions. As a board collectively we have attended
over 20 workshops and completed over 22 on-line
development programs. These learning opportunities allow us
to meet and discuss with other board members throughout
the Waikato and bring our findings back to the school. They
are quick and focused events which are easy to fit around
life with kids and work commitments. It’s a great reason to
get involved in the 2022 BOT elections!!Pirongia School Cross Country:
