T HE WO RL D S O F SHRI M PS AND H AB I TAT M EE T. A re-imagining of dreams where fantastical creatures roam, a crowd of faces gather and Venetian jesters carnival until dawn. Hannah Weiland’s first fashion-meets-interiors collection looks into the archives of her cult London fashion label Shrimps, and brings together characters, stories, pattern and colour from past seasons and translates them across a series of textiles and artwork for the home. A signature palette of Shrimps pink and red underpins the collection, punctuated with accents of gold and washes of blue. Breton stripe faux fur throws are draped on painterly print bedding, layered alongside embroidered cushions and hand crafted rugs. “Doodle first appeared as a clutch bag
in my Resort 2017 collection. Inspired
by nursery rhymes and make-believe
creatures, the soft colour palette reminds
me of the colours in my favourite dreams.
Here we’ve used a highly detailed
embroidery technique with a lustre
thread to give a delicate, ethereal sheen
which adds to that dream-like feel.”

With her red pigtails and freckle face, she is sweet as well as chic, and - as she is practically a Shrimps founder - here we’ve given her, her very own cushion. This design uses a couch stitch technique – a form of crewelwork embroidery that gives a luxe, textured effect. The cushion is finished with a contrasting bright red reverse.” £ 7 0 . 0 0

Breton striped faux fur so its been a lot
of fun to translate this idea and take it
from the wardrobe into the home. A bit
of crazy-luxe indulgence, we’ve opted for
this in two sizes that both make statement
impact with pink, red and blue stripes in a
seriously sumptuous faux fur.”

delicateness of these geometric shapes
in pink and red stitch - a favourite colour

We’ve used digital printing here to capture the pink watercolour from my original artwork and translate it directly onto a cotton percale base. The hand carving gives the rugs doodles different heights giving them them stand out from the floor. Excitingly this is also the first time Habitat has used gold thread in a rug which adds really magical detailing.” £450.00

F R AM ED P R I NT S “Using the Faces dhurrie rug as wall art got us thinking about a Shrimps print collection. Here we’ve worked with Habitat’s printers to created a limited edition run of Shrimps framed artwork. The Venezia print is housed in a beautiful gold frame, while the oversized hand drawn Faces in a complimenting black frame that reflects the black pen I used to doodle each face. Shrimps is a fashion label from the young London-based
designer, Hannah Weiland, launched in 2013. With a
background in History of Art and a diploma in Surface Textile
Design from the London College of Fashion, Weiland takes
her inspiration from the witticisms of modern art and a
playful engagement with pattern and texture.
Using carefully sourced fabrics that emphasise colour and
texture, Hannah creates unique, beautifully crafted pieces,
perfect for the forward-thinking customer with a taste for the
fun in fashion.
