                        LOTTERYWEST COVID-19 RELIEF FUND
The State Government, through Lotterywest, is committing $159 million into a COVID-19 Relief
Fund to respond to the hardship being experienced by the Western Australian community as a
result the COVID-19 pandemic.

This fund will comprise the following programs:

Crisis & Emergency Relief
Applications for this program will be accepted immediately.
Support is available for Western Australian not-for-profit community sector organisations and
local government authorities to provide crisis and emergency relief services to:
 People currently experiencing hardship that are at risk of becoming entrenched in
      disadvantage due to the crisis.
 People newly experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19; and
 Those that are most at risk of serious infection (immune compromised, older people,
diagnosed chronic medical conditions, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples).

Lotterywest will help meet costs related to increased demand for crisis relief services; working
differently in the current climate; and supporting collaboration to address the increased demand.
Information regarding the assessment criteria for this program can be https://
www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au/assets/more/documents/covid-19-crisis-and-emergency-relief .
If you have an existing grant to deliver emergency relief services and believe you need a
variation to that grant, we will work with you to meet these needs.
Please contact Lotterywest on 133 777 to discuss your grant, we are open for business.

Event Cancellation Relief for Arts, Sports and Community Groups
Support will be available for not-for-profit arts, sports and community organisations that are
experiencing financial hardship as a result of a cancelled event resulting from COVID-19. This
program will consider cancellation costs, loss of revenue and incurred and/or committed costs
related to events that delivered broad community benefit. Lotterywest will be working directly
with sports, arts and community groups to deliver this program in collaboration with the
Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries and Venueswest.

Resilient Arts, Sports, Events and Community Groups
Support will be available for not-for-profit arts, sports and community organisations to continue
to provide support services and activities for the benefit of the Western Australian community
during the pandemic crisis (e.g. maintain staff, pivot operations, maintain viability and build
resilience for future recovery). Details on eligible organisations and criteria for the program will
be provided soon.

For organisations with an approved grant or an application under assessment:
If you have a current grant with Lotterywest that has been disrupted as a result of the impact of
COVID-19 please get in touch to explore options.
Lotterywest will consider:
 Changes to previously agreed activities
 Changes to grant periods and delivery date
 Changes to budget lines to repurpose funds for urgent coronavirus related needs where
       possible
If you have an existing application, Lotterywest is reviewing these and it may be withdrawn if it
does not align with the criteria of the fund and its programs.

Please contact Lotterywest by calling 133777 or the website https://www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au/

How the Kondinin Shire is responding to COVID-19:
Council’s focus during the COVID-19 situation is to maintain good service levels while protecting our community.
We will aim do this by:
· Maintaining essential services, such as waste collection to residents;
· Providing up-to-date information about any changes to services and/or operations at Council-owned
  facilities;
· Supporting government, government departments, emergency services and agencies to help manage the
  impact of the virus;
· Acting on advice from WA Department of Health and Department of Local Government.
· Following State and Federal Government advice regarding events and public gatherings.

Council Services and Operations Update

situation, we now have measures in place to protect both you and Shire staff – while ensuring the continued
provision of services.
  · All events cancelled until further notice.
  · The Shire has increased cleaning of all its facilities, including public toilets and playgrounds. It should be
noted that that in accordance with State and Federal Government guidelines, if you are visiting these public
spaces, please do not congregate, wash and sanitise hands and observe the 1.5 metre distance between
    yourself and others.

SHIRE OF KONDININ | THE WEEKLY ECHO 8 APRIL 2020

For safety of our community and staff the operating times have been adjusted slight to take place during
daylight hours:
 Kondinin and Hyden Library and Administration Offices – Closed to the public from 30th March, but
staff will be contactable via email and phone.
 Kondinin Licensing Service Monday & Wednesday 10am until 2pm, by appointment only and EFT
preferred. Hyden Licensing Service Tuesday & Thursday 10am - 2pm, by appointment only and EFT
      preferred.
 Kondinin and Hyden Depots – by appointment only.

Please be advised that the following facilities are now closed to the public until further notice.

 Kondinin, Hyden and Karlgarin Halls.
 Kondinin Pavilion and Kondinin Country Club.
 Hyden Recreation Centre, Hyden Tennis, Hyden Netball and Hyden Youth Base.
 Lions, CWA and any other community facilities.
 Toilets at the Humps, McCanns Rock. Public Toilets located alongside the Kondinin, Karlgarin and
Hyden Town Halls and still available for use along with limited facilities at the Wave Rock Carpark.
 All public playground and public infrastructure including barbeques.

Hire services are no longer available for the community buses and a risk based approach will be taken for
private works and the tree planter in supporting the agricultural sector. Where possible all members of the
public are asked to use public toilets and bins sparingly and as a last resort.

The Shire has closed the Caravan Park to everyone except essential workers from the 27 th March 2020. Once
the large influx of interstate travellers have safely made it home the use of roadside rest areas and 24 hour
stays will be limited to use by essential workers ie freight and will be dependent on Federal and State
directive.

If you are required to attend the Kondinin or Hyden Waste Transfer stations or Community Recycling stations
please ensure all waste is appropriately placed in rubbish bags where practical. Please take home your own
waste receptacles as recycling bin swapping is not currently advisable.

We strongly urge all other community groups who own their facilities to adhere to Federal and State Health
advice and to be proactive in promoting no unnecessary travel. The geographic isolation in rural areas like
ours is our only advantage considering the centralised nature of key Health Services.
