Certificate #FT-0005A LETTER FROM THE IHIA PRESIDENT August 3, 2019 Welcome to the 2019 International Homicide Investigators Association’s 26th Annual Training Symposium. The IHIA board is excited to be at the Hyatt in Austin Texas providing you with the best training presentations available. We feel very fortunate to serve our worldwide membership and share a great week from over 45 states and 9 different countries. I also want to thank our co-host agencies, without whom the IHIA wouldn’t be successful. Our co- hosts this year are the Austin Police Department, The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Critical Incident response Group (CIRG), Criminal Investigative Division (CID), and FBI San Antonio’s Austin Resident Agency; and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The sponsors provide invaluable assistance in the form of time, resources, and personnel to ensure we meet your training expectations. There is no higher honor than investigating the death of another human being. These investigations by their very nature require a mix of innovation, time honored methods of investigation, and most importantly teamwork. The 2019 IHIA symposium is structured to support this mix with presentations from investigators, prosecutors, forensic science professionals, academia, digital media, and electronic communications. In support of these investigations you will find exhibitors who are as dedicated to these investigations as you are. Our exhibitors are part of the IHIA family with many of them having been with us for years. They could choose to support other associations or endeavors, but year after year they make time to spend several days with us and interact with each of you. We take this loyalty very seriously and truly appreciate their friendship and the time and energy they put into their products in order to support you in your investigations. Please take some time to chat with them you will find their passion will rival yours! This symposium marks the end of my time as the IHIA president. I owe great thanks to the IHIA board for their dedication to the mission and members of the association. I also thank your new president Greg Esteban for his support over the last two years. The association is in very capable hands moving forward. The last two years has seen incredible growth for the association. The IHIA partnership with FBI has produced a new advanced homicide course, which has been very well received and reviewed. Stay tuned over the next two months as we roll out an exciting new course and update our basic homicide course. We will stay true to the IHIA mission in providing high quality instruction at the lowest possible cost. Thank you all for attending. We are very aware you have choices for your training. The IHIA strives to serve you through quality professional training and networking opportunities at the lowest possible cost. Thank you for your commitment to education and professional development. Thank you for your commitment to the IHIA and your continued membership. Lt. Paul Belli President IHIA
