CARessentials CARessentials Caring for your electric vehicle. Electric vehicles (EV) like the Mercedes-Benz EQC require lesser maintenance needs, but can you guess what work they still need at certain intervals? Getting around in an electric car can be a breeze, thanks to its seamless acceleration and quiet ride. But did you know that it’s also easier to maintain compared to a combustion car? That’s because EVs have fewer components that require routine maintenance, such as engine oil, intake filters, spark plugs and belts! There’s no need to worry about wear and tear of these components because EVs don’t have them. That said, there are some consumables in an EV that need to be checked and, if necessary, replaced. Here are five examples: Tyres Like normal cars, EVs require tyre rotation - the process of swapping a car’s tyres around at regular intervals to even out wear. Electric motors, with their instant response and high torque output, can speed up the wear of your tyres, so it’s extra important to rotate them regularly. The good news is you won’t have to do it all by yourself. Our skilled technicians at any Mercedes-Benz Authorised Service Center will know exactly what needs to be done. And while they’re at it, they’ll also be able to inspect your tyres for wear and proper inflation. Brakes Energy recovery plays a huge role in an EV’s braking capability. That is to say, the vehicle slows down by drawing energy back into the battery. It’s part of the reason why the Mercedes-EQC has such a long range! However, regular friction brakes do take over at some point, causing normal wear and tear over time. It’s thus important to replace your brake fluid to ensure that your EV stays in peak performance. Thankfully, brake fluid does last fairly long. In an EQC, it’s scheduled for replacement every 2 years or 15,000 km (whichever comes first). Wiper blades Alas, there’s nothing different about an EV’s wiper blades, so expect them to last just as long as they do on any car. To get the best out of them, however, we recommend using Mercedes-Benz Windshield Washer Fluid. Not only does it clean the screen thoroughly, it also helps ensure your wipers don’t judder as they sweep across the glass! Air-conditioning The air-conditioning system requires care in order to ensure the perfect climate in your Mercedes-Benz. Its condenser coil needs flushing to be kept clean, while dust and charcoal filters should be replaced every so often to ward out particles and harmful chemicals. Coolant and other fluids EVs might not have hot engines that require instant cooling, but they do have batteries and electronic components (like an inverter or motor controller) that necessitate thermal management. Thus, it’s important to check on your coolant and top up if needed. We also recommend routine replacement of your EV’s axle oil to keep its gear reduction running smoothly, quietly, and for a long time!

CARenquiry CARenquiry Q. Do I have to pay for the Cycle & Carriage 10-Year Engine Warranty? A. As long as your car is eligible, you will automatically be included in the program! Vehicles that have been registered with Cycle & Carriage at their point of purchase and have been serviced, maintained and repaired by CCI at recommended intervals for the 10-year duration or 150,000 km (whichever comes first) are eligible for the warranty. If your vehicle misses the recommended service interval by more than 60 days or 2,000 km, it will no longer be eligible. Read more about the 10-Year Engine Warranty here. Q. How do I keep my car’s paint in pristine condition and avoid stubborn dirt stains? A. You may consider bringing your car to our service centres for the Mercedes-Benz Paint Protection System.
