RIDER INFORMATION GUIDE - Saturday 5 December www.bondi2berry.com
A MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANISERS
Thank you for signing up to the Bondi2Berry Ride to Remember. It’s been a challenging
year for everyone, and we are glad to be riding in 2020, albeit postponed to December.
The inaugural ride in 2016 was the start of an idea that exceeded all expectations and
has continued to grow, and we are ready to roll for the 5 year ride in 2020.
Together, we have raised awareness of a disease which affects so many people. If you
haven’t been affected by the disease personally, then you know someone who has.
So far we have raised over $500,000 to go towards research for a cure.
There are currently over 459,000 Australians affected with dementia, and this will
increase to 1.1 million by 2058. Dementia is the leading cause of death among
Australian women, and remains the second leading cause of death for all Australians.
Thanks to all of you for coming on this journey with us, for fundraising and each doing
your bit to raise awareness of the terrible disease. We are riding to remember.
See you on the bike!

A MESSAGE FROM THE RIDE DIRECTOR
There is more information in the EVENT DAY section, however here are some
important things to note.
The ride is sanctioned by Cycling NSW (no TT bikes), and we are riding under guidelines
provided to us by NSW Police. Please adhere to all normal road rules during the ride.
This is an open road ride, meaning there are no road closures along the course, please
ride safely at all times.
Communication is key – the support vehicles have radio communications to the ride
captains. Please listen to the ride captains and follow their guidance and direction,
please pass all calls up the bunch and back down about changes in road surfaces,
traffic conditions and anything else.
Lastly, it is essential that everyone abides with COVID-19 guidelines. If you are feeling
unwell or have had flu like symptoms within the last 14 days please do not participate
in the ride. Please adhere to 1.5m social distancing, and wash your hands or use hand
sanitiser whenever possible.
See you on the road!

OUR AMBASSADORS
Thank you for helping us raise the profile of our ride and contribute to our goal of
raising awareness of dementia, and helping us fundraise to research for a cure.

During the ride
Each group will have two ride captains and two escort vehicles.
Riding 2-abreast unless the ride captains call single file.
There will be times when the ride captains direct the group to pull
over to an appropriate area on the left side of the ride for a quick
stop if there is large traffic build up or to regroup.
As per riding etiquette, please call or point out holes in the road
surface – “hole left”, “hole middle” or “hole right”, and please pass
on the call. If you hear a call, it is your responsibility to repeat the
call to the rider in front or behind you.
The groups will “roll”, rolling to the left in an anti-clockwise
direction (front right rider moves to the left) as per the diagram.
Rolling at the call of the ride captains or rider on the front wants to
roll. The communication call is simply “rolling”.
Please listen to the ride captains and follow their guidance and direction at all times.

Mechanical / Bike Support on course
A bike mechanic and limited spare parts will be on course. Please be self-sufficient
with repairs, and please carry spare tubes and pump or co2 canisters. It may be

medical incidents, the medics will be responsible for directing appropriate
treatment, either on the course or if an ambulance or visit to hospital is required.
