Neuschwanstein Castle
Neuschwanstein Castle, one of the most popular of all the palaces
and castles in Europe, was commissioned by King Ludwig II. in
1868 as a second dream- and fairy-tale castle in the Ammergau
Alps near Füssen. It was a romantic copy of a Middle Ages castle
with various architectural and artistic motifs; the King did not live
to see its completion. Neuschwanstein Castle was opened to the
