BRANDON DERRICK | HEAD FOOTBALL COACH
The mission of the Frederica Academy Booster Club is to promote positive parent
and community involvement in support of the school’s athletic programs. This
Brandon Derrick is in his eighth year as head football coach at Frederica Academy, where he teaches Middle and Upper School history. Coach Derrick grew

Coach Derrick graduated from Maryville College with degrees in History, Economics, and Education. While at Maryville, he was a four-year letterman, a three-
year starting quarterback, and set multiple school records. He holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialty in Instructional
Computer Technology from Lesley University.
BOOSTER CLUB EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE BOOSTER CLUB BOARD
Derrick began his teaching career at Lenoir City High School in Tennessee, where he served as football offensive coordinator and head baseball coach. Both
teams advanced deep into the playoffs that year.
Elizabeth Brunson, President Paula Baker Derrick then went to Temple High School where he was offensive coordinator for four years and defensive coordinator for three years. While at Temple, the
team made the playoffs four of seven years and competed in the school’s first football playoff game. During his time there, Derrick was the Social Studies
Walt Perez, Vice President Detra Brock Department Chair, Teacher of the Year, and runner-up for County Teacher of the Year. He served on academic committees including the SACS Committee and
Zack Veal, Vice President Caroline Champion the State of Georgia Committee for Curriculum Design.
Alisha Seymour, Immediate Past President & Treasurer Erin Dyer Coach Derrick returned to Tennessee to serve as head football coach at his alma mater, McMinn Central High School. In three years, he had an overall 21-11
record and a region championship. In his last two seasons at MCHS, he compiled a record of 18-4 and his team was ranked in the top five in the state in Class
Ron Harrison Mark Fritchman AAA. He was named Region Coach of the Year and the Chattanooga Times Coach of the Year.
Scott Hutchinson John McKeown Derrick then moved to Glynn Academy where he served four years as the offensive coordinator. In his four years at GA, the offense increased their output

Meredith Reilly Coach Derrick joined the Frederica family in 2013. In his time at FA, the Knights began competing in Class AAA. Derrick has been named Region Coach of the
Year three times, as well as GISA AAA State Coach of the Year, 912 Sports Coach of the Year, and All Area Coach of the Year. Under his
Jenny Thompson leadership, the Knights have taken home three region championships, been runners-up twice, and have advanced to the final four three times. In 2018, the
Catherine Veal Knights won the GISA Class AAA State Championship, defeating John Milledge Academy 48-0.
He and his wife, Becky, have two daughters, Maddie and Riley. Maddie works with the San Antonio Spurs, and Riley ‘19 attends Texas Christian University.

TREY BARNES | ASSISTANT COACH ROBB HOFSTRA | MIDDLE SCHOOL HEAD COACH
Coach Trey Barnes is a native of the Golden Isles. Born and raised on Saint Simons Island, he graduated from Glynn Academy as a member of the Class of
2011. While at Glynn Academy, he participated in three different sports. He was a three-year letterman in football (where he played on the offensive line), a
Robert Hofstra is the Head Middle School Football Coach, teaches AP Chemistry and directs the Nash Academic Center. Mr. Hofstra has a master’s degree in
one-year letterman in wrestling, and a member of the track team. In 2010, he was awarded the Jimmy Howe Football Scholarship Award and the Principal’s
Education and is an experienced science teacher who came to Frederica Academy from Michigan.
Wrestling Award. Coach Barnes is in his fifth year as offensive line coach for the Frederica Knights. He attends Saint Simons Community Church where he is
actively involved in the high school and middle school programs.
CRAIG CALHOUN | ASSISTANT COACH AVERY SWEETING | ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Craig Calhoun Jr. was born in Titusville, Florida, and moved to Brunswick, Georgia, at the age of 14 and attended Brunswick High School. Craig was
Avery Sweeting is in his first year as a football coach at Frederica Academy. He serves as the Wide Receiver’s Coach for the Knights. Prior to joing the Knights
a 3-year letterman at Center/Defensive End and the 2012 Offensive Player of the Year. Craig attended Albany State University as a
Football coaching staff, Avery atteneded Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. While in college, Avery played football for the GSU Panthers football team.
Defensive End on a football scholarship. Craig is married to his wife Jana and has two daughters, Ryanne and Jurnee.
DOMINIQUE CLINCH | MIDDLE SCHOOL COACH ADAM NORMAN | HEAD ATHLETIC TRAINER
Adam Norman MS, LAT, ATC, obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He
Dominique Clinch was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia. He attended Brunswick High School where he played basketball and football. Dominique played furthered his education by attaining his Master of Science with emphasis on Sports Medicine from the University of North Georgia. Mr. Norman is
college basketball at Denmark college in South Carolina and attended Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia. Dominique graduated from BPC with a working as the certified Head Athletic Trainer at Frederica Academy as part of his employment with the Southeast Georgia Health System. He was
degree in physical education. He has also coached at the collegiate level for basketball and was a recruiting coordinator. named as the SPHL Athletic Trainer of the year in 2017, a contributing author in , and is finalzing
his research for publication for healthcare journals. Mr. Norman continues to complete opportunities that he loves within his professional field. He
looks forward to learning and growing from his experience and time at Frederica Academy by working closely with the students and athletic staff.
