   The lecture outlined a hundred years of
history behind 1-3 Hillside Ave., which
evolved from the Mount Royal Riding
Academy and Stable to the Hillside Ar-
moury.
   The Independent’s most recent report-

owner, developer Karl Beauchamp, was
impatient, saying at the time “I can’t wait
forever [for city input and approval] and
then have to go in another direction if

   The building was sold by Hillside Lim-
ited Partnership to 9387-6852 Québec Inc.
on December 19 of last year for $4.8 mil-
lion. Two of the directors of the new
owner are Luciano Girlando and Nello
Orsini.

Patrick’s Day pub quiz night took place
March 20 at Victoria Hall. Experienced
quizmaster Sean Murphy, who has Irish
roots and works, appropriately, on Greene
Ave., has coordinated quizzes for more
than 15 years, including fundraisers
for Head and Hands and the NDG Food-
bank (now The Depot Community Food
Centre).
