The 14th Annual Meeting of the Membership
                             F. Clason Kyle, Guest Speaker
                                 "The story of Truman Thomas"

Historic Linwood Foundation invites you to the 14th Annual Meeting of the Membership. We have
scheduled the meeting for Monday, May 3, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. We plan to start under the old Oak
Tree for our meeting and then take a short walk for the unveiling of the Truman Thomas grave
marker.
You will be pleased to know F. Clason Kyle, local author and historian, has kindly accepted our
invitation as guest Speaker for this years' meeting. It seems very appropriate for Clason to be
presenting the story of young Truman Thomas because as many of you are already aware, Mr.
Kyle, born May 5, 1929 is a descendent of Dr. Edward L. deGraffenreid who was one of the five
original commissioners in Columbus.
The five commissioners for Columbus appointed Edward Lloyd Thomas, Truman's father, as the
first planner and surveyor for the town. With that said, Clason will tell the rest of this story.
We would like to acknowledge and thank Mr. Robert (Bob) Galer for his research and the
contribution of the Truman Thomas commemorative marker as this plays such an important role
in Linwood Cemetery's history. Bob Galer has been a constant at the Foundation since its
beginning. He has a long history of locating grave markers both locally and internationally.
Thanks again for your work on Truman's grave marker.

Warren W. Foley the enclosure. David Via completed restoration on several of the tablets
Thomas Gristina in the Curtis lot in May of 2009, and now with the brick work finished,
John S. Holt, Jr. the lot has been fully restored. The Curtis lot is located across from the

This lot has several graves that were constructed out of bricks which is
Kathryn S. Vaught
not unusual in Linwood. Many of the brick on the grave tops were
Katherine J. Waddell
broken and/or missing and have now been reused or replaced. As a note
of interest, Bo Patterson has ancestors buried in the Hill lot. I would like
Exec. Dir. & Newsletter Editor to extend our thanks for the anonymous contribution that was made
Deby L. Payne toward the restoration repairs in the Hill lot.
