2021 Pledge Campaign Needs
What are you giving Jesus for Christmas? Our Pledge Campaign is making
progress, but we need you to help put us over the top! We need $200,000 to
reach our 2021 pledge amount. There are still 80 people or families who pledged
last year from whom we have not heard. We also need the help of all of our new
members who may not have pledged before. You may be the key to reaching our
goal! St. John’s has great ministries to honor Christ that need your support. Call
Nancy Fairgrieve at (803)648-6891 ext. 217 or email her at
nfairgrieve@stjohns-umc.org. She will be glad to help you make your pledge.
Thank you!
Stephen Ministry: Christ Caring for People Through People
STRESS! We’ve all felt it, especially during these last eight months, and we know
what it is. But sometimes the stress level reaches a point where things begin to
break. Don’t let your stress reach that point! Our Stephen Ministers at St. John’s
are available to help you work through life’s difficulties and to give you a safe,
confidential place to vent your troubles. For more information about Stephen
Ministry and how it works, please contact Diane James, the Referrals
Coordinator, at (803)507-0884, or Rev. Butch Blackwell at the church, at
(803)648-6891. You may also contact any of our Stephen Leaders: Steve Lathrop
(803)295-3433; Ginger Hudock (803)640-4381; Rob Persons (803)443-3980;
Rick Endler (803)640-1289
                           Thank You from St. John’s!
St. John’s would like to extend a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who
helped make our “Night of Joy” Christmas Eve service at the Aiken Mall a success.
This huge endeavor was made possible by all of our incredible volunteers and
donors. Thank you for helping us come together as a community to celebrate the
birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
We would also like to give a special thank you to all who contributed to the
creation and visuals of our Virtual Christmas Eve service. This beautiful
celebration of Christmas was a true team effort by the very talented volunteers
and staff of St. John’s.

                                  Children’s Ministries
We have made the decision to close Sunday School and Nursery for the time
being due to the rise in Covid cases and very low attendance.
The health and safety of our families is of the highest
importance.
Please like and follow our Children’s Ministry Facebook page
(scan the QR Code using your smartphone for the link). This is
the best way to receive information about what is happening
in Grove Children’s Ministry at St. John’s. Bible lessons and
activities will also be available to access here for our children.

Honduras Agape Foundation (HAF) has been our mission partner since the first
Mission Impact Celebration in 2008. HAF seeks to share the love of Jesus Christ
through creating stronger, more resilient and self-sufficient communities in the
Quimistan valley area. They work through community leaders to provide medical
and dental care, construction of school and community facilities, and educational
support for the children. Their Agape Promise program currently has 40 students
in school and 16 students in college. Sponsors are needed. Our members and
youth have participated in mission trips to support this mission. Faith promise
provides $1200 per month. https://hondurasagape.us/

2021 Offering Envelopes Will Be Mailed
Due to COVID, your 2021 Offering Envelopes will be mailed directly to your home.
You will start receiving them at the beginning January 2021. They will be mailed to
you on a quarterly basis. January 2021 thru March 2021 will be sent to you soon. At
the end of March, you will receive April 2021 thru June 2021 and so on. Due to many
members now giving online, and requesting no envelopes, numbers have been
re-structured so that we do not order more envelopes than we need. This means
your envelope number might not be the same as it has been. If anyone has any
questions, please feel free to contact Nancy Fairgrieve at 803-648-6891 ext. 217 or
email her at nfairgrieve@stjaiken.org.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only
Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under
Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He rose from the dead; He
ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He
shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.
