• Half of Americans over the age of 30 have periodontitis (gum
disease)
• The more advanced form of periodontal disease.

• Visit your dentist at least once a year
• Even if you have no natural teeth or have dentures.
• Keep your smile healthy
• Brush your teeth twice per day, floss once per day, change your
toothbrush every few months, use a soft-bristled toothbrush
• Use fluoridated water – and products
• Use alcohol-free mouthwash
• Avoid enamel erosion
• Use a soft-bristled toothbrush, cut back on food and drinks with high
acid contents, chew a piece of sugar free gum after eating
