EST ABLISHED ON JUNE 13, 2014

WHAT ARE COMMUNITY COLLEGES?
The Community Colleges are a network of educational
institutions introduced recently in India in the models of those
in the United States and other Western Countries for
providing vocational and technical skills training at levels for
higher secondary leavers before they entered the workforce.
The community colleges also provide an infrastructure for
rural communities particularly the weaker sections to gain
skills training through short courses as well as providing
access to a post-secondary education. The Colleges can be
expanded horizontally as well as vertically by introducing new trades as per requirements of the
local industries and societal needs or demands.
IMPORTANCE
In this chaotic situation of the society with the increasing number of unemployed youths,
Community Colleges are designed to impart skills to the youths without having any bar on age,
caste or creed as per demands or the potentials of the individuals so as to enable them to join the
workforce at any suitable industry or earn themselves by running industries of their own in small
or larger scales. The introduction of the community colleges aims at reducing demand for jobs in
the Government sectors and increasing entry to industrial sectors.
