           o   It was the 13th edition of Earth hour and the campaign of Earth Hour 2019
               was ‘Connect2Earth’
           o   It was aimed at building mass awareness on the importance of nature and

   •   IAF MIG-27 (Upgrade) Crash

o   An Indian Air Force MiG-27 (Upgrade) aircraft got airborne from Air Force
               Station Uttarlai, Rajasthan for a routine sortie.
           o   The aircraft crashed approximately 120 km south of Jodhpur.
           o   The pilot ejected safely and has been recovered by Search and Rescue
               helicopter.
           o   A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident.

   •   China launches 2nd gen relay satellite
           o   China launched its first data relay satellite, the Tianlian I-01
           o   China has successfully launched the first of its new-generation data relay
               satellites into orbit that will provide data relay, measurement, and control
               services for its manned spacecraft.
           o   The satellite is developed by the China Academy of Space Technology under
               the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

   •   ISRO’s PSLV-C45 launched today
           o   ISRO’s PSLV-C45 has successfully put the electronic intelligence satellite
               EMISAT in the 749 km orbit.
           o   PSLV-C45 took off from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota
               with EMISAT as well as 28 satellites from Spain (1), Lithuania (2),
               Switzerland (1) and the United States (24) as part of its payload.
           o   This will be the 47th mission for ISRO’s PSLV programme

   •   Healthy capital ratios, low NPAs
           o   The RBI’s policy rate cut in February this year is likely to nudge banks to
               trim deposit rates over the coming months.
           o   Banks had raised deposit rates last year with those in the private sector
               hiking rates more aggressively.
           o   With the RBI expected to cut the policy rate further in the coming months,
               retail deposit rates offered by banks are likely to fall too.

           o   In Nepal, at least 27 persons have been killed and around 500 injured in a
               massive storm in Bara and Parsa districts.

               yesterday evening.

           o   PNB is selling part of its stake in PNB Housing Finance to global private
               equity firm General Atlantic Group and investment firm Varde Partners for

           o   The Mumbai-based company Linkus Infratech has launched a hyper-local
               connectivity app called "Bhonga" to connect users to people in their
               neighborhood in the city even without an Internet connection.
           o   Bhonga" is a word in the Marathi language that translates to meaning
               megaphone or loudspeaker.
           o   The app is in the process of collaborating with partners like blood-banks,
               ambulances.
