Taunton town centre was awarded £200,000 as
part of its recovery programme from COVID19. We
determined that offering experiences will be the
backbone of our recovery programme for Taunton
town centre and its businesses.
We are therefore strongly and passionately
supporting activities such as markets, live music,
festivals, trails and exhibitions to encourage people
back to our town centre and help support our local
economy bounce back.

Taunton Markets
Taunton’s combination of the traditional and
contemporary is nowhere better reflected than in
its shopping. The market town has always shown
individuality and creativity and the monthly
independent market is a true gem which exudes
charm and gives enjoyment to all.
The Taunton Independent Market launched in March
2020. The market, held on Castle Green, provides the
real hustle and bustle of market life while creating a
positive buzz in the town.

A trail of colourful, fun and quirky shop front window
displays through Taunton Town Centre on the theme of
“loveWins”.
A collaboration of local artists and businesses to showcase
a series of visual art commissions in the centre of Taunton.
#LoveWins Engaging visitors to the High Street in a visual celebration
of culture and creativity, turning window spaces into
pop-up contemporary artworks.

Follow Your Heart Trail
Follow the Heart Trail around the centre of
Taunton and through Taunton’s beautiful open
spaces. The “Follow Your Heart” Trail consists of
20 large freestanding heart-shaped sculptures
painted by local artists and community groups
in the Taunton Live & Pride festival theme of
‘Love Wins’.
Part of a summer celebration of Arts,
Culture & Inclusivity.

will be opening its historic gardens until 8pm every Wednesday*.

Open-Up Outdoor gardens exhibition
Open-Up is a series of outdoor artworks created
in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The works
range from subtle interventions involving copper
plant tags, pigeon rings and galvanised nails, to bold
stacked colours, giant bunting and orchard ladders.
Features Jackdaw Line, a stone work by internationally
renowned artist Richard Long.

The Art Of Brian Rice:
60 Years Of Paintings And Prints
The exhibition will consist of more than 30 colourful
abstract artworks by painter-printmaker Brian Rice. Rice
studied at Yeovil College of Art in the 1960s. Following
several years of working as an artist in London and
embracing the ‘swinging sixties’ cultural revolution, Rice
moved back to the West Country to become a sheep
farmer. He ultimately returned to the studio and has a
prolific body of artwork. His deep rooted connection to
the South West, and strong interest in archaeology and
ce place, will be important to the exhibition

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the “Botham Ashes”
victory.
Enjoy a three-course dinner, followed by a fabulous night of
entertainment as we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the
1981 ‘Botham’ Ashes victory with Lord Ian Botham, as
our principal celebrity guest. Geoff Miller OBE – former
England International Cricketer, Chair of the England
Selection Committee and roommate to Beefy Botham on
