CONTRACT: 132kV Mine Power Connection Project
LOCATION: South Australia
DURATION: June 2018-July 2019
Ventia was engaged to provide an entire high voltage
electrical infrastructure solution to supply and power a
new mine facility in outback South Australia.
A complete solution included the full design,
procurement and construction of a 50 kilometre
transmission line and 132/11kV, 3x 35MVA substation.
The transmission line comprised a 132kV, single circuit,
steel pole configuration with a 48 fibre OPGW.
Working in an extremely remote and challenging
environment, our team was responsible for the
engineering design, civil, structural, electrical,
communications and SCADA works, as well as testing
and commissioning of all plant.
The construction phase involved FIFO resource
rostering and close engagement with the local
indigenous community.
This new electricity supply was commissioned in July
2019, and will provide power to one of the largest new
copper-gold mines in Australia, including the on-site
processing plant and nearby village.
