LAVAL IN ACTION
Cycling More and More Popular
The mobility and congestion problems in Greater Montréal affect all residents’ quality of life. Added to that is a desire
among Laval residents to contribute toward efforts to reduce GHGs and fight climate change. This is why some
people are choosing to use bicycles to get around. City teams are working to develop and improve the cycling
network in the various districts in order to facilitate local routes and those leading to major destination points, such
as parks, shops, etc.
Here are a few routes chosen by Laval residents:

“As I’m lucky to live in Laval, I ride my bike to work all year round. In

verte, but also small streets in the neighbourhoods. The industrial park
is accessible by bike from all four directions, so I ride safely morning

Laval OSEntreprendre Challenge:
Here Are the Regional Prizewinners
Every spring, Laval celebrates the vitality of its young entrepreneurs as part of the OSEntreprendre Challenge. This year, nearly
500 people took part in the 21st edition of the event, which was held on May 2 at the Cabaret de l’Avenir, a multi-functional reception
hall in Laval that was a national prizewinner in its own right the year before.
Laval OSEntreprendre Challenge is the regional finals of this major Québec competition that aims to promote entrepreneurial initiatives
of young people from elementary school to university as well as those of new entrepreneurs and former participants who are still in
business after 5 years. The City is in charge of the regional competition and works in collaboration with the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi
de Laval. For the first time this year, an organizing committee brought together various parties involved in the school, economic
and social sectors around this celebration, which is another opportunity to promote Laval’s vitality. “Once again this year, Laval
recognizes the excellence, creativity and perseverance of the entrepreneurs of today and tomorrow who are helping build our city,”
noted Stéphane Boyer, member of the Executive Committee and responsible for economic development, during the May 2 event.
Mr. Boyer also noted the strong mobilization of Laval’s entrepreneurial community. “All were committed and united around the desire
to be an entrepreneur. The determination of this year’s competition entrants is particularly noteworthy, and that inspires me a lot.”

steadily. More and more consumers SUR-LE-
are looking for fresh, varied, quality LAC
products, and they want to enjoy the
experience when they buy them. In
Laval, their wants are satisfied, thanks
to diversified agri-food options that
are constantly being improved. In
addition, there are many benefits to
buying directly from our producers,
including contributing to the local SAINTE-DOROTHÉE CHOMEDEY
economy by maintaining and creating
jobs, preserving our green landscapes
and taking concrete action for the
environment. Take advantage of the
summer to travel around the island
from east to west and you will discover
the wide range of Laval’s products:
market garden produce, horticultural
and processed products, farm animal
breeding and recreational activities:
there is something for every taste
and many producers are accessible
by public transit.
