Student Planners
All students are given a planner at the start of each year. The
planner is an important piece of school equipment and
supports students to ‘get every day right’.
Students can use the planner to record homework, remind
them of events coming up and it is a good way for parents to
communicate with the school. The planner also has useful
resources from different departments that will help your child
be successful in lessons. If the planner is lost, a new one will
need to be purchased.

Specialist: www.monkhouse.comChild feeling unwell? First Aid? There are a number of trained First Aiders within the Academy, both teachers and support staff. If your child is unwell in school they will normally go to their Year Team or to Reception. We will always encourage students to stay in school where possible. If we feel your child needs to go home and permission has been granted by a member of the Senior Leadership Team, we will contact you to ask that your child is collected. We will not let your child leave the Academy on their own without permission from a parent/carer. If an accident has occurred a suitably qualified First Aider will be called to attend. We will contact you to advise of the accident as soon as possible.
If your child is required to take medication For the safety of students, it is recommended that medication be given at home whenever possible. For example, medication prescribed three times a day can be given before school, after school and at bedtime. If short term medication is required to be administered in school, it must be brought to school in the original labelled container prepared by the pharmacy. A Medicine Administration Agreement must be completed and signed by a parent/carer. Medication will be stored securely and only administered by trained staff. For long term medication or medical conditions parents/carers are required to complete an Individual Health Care Plan as well as a Medical Administration Agreement. It is the parent/carer's responsibility to inform the Academy of any medical conditions. Students MUST NOT give any medication to another student.

extending their reading skills through a personalised Accelerated Reader
programme, which has shown impressive results, helping improve reading
ages across the years.
Students attend one lesson per week in the Library with an English teacher,
they select a book within the level of reading they are at and once they
have read the book, they take a short quiz; if they pass, they move up a
level and select a new book within this level.

Enhance ConcentrationBBA Breakfast Club
At Bristol Brunel Academy we understand that breakfast is a crucial
part of every child's day.
It affects everything from memory to creativity in the classroom.
Children who go hungry are more inclined to become distracted from
learning at school or give up more easily when faced with challenges.
Healthy, well-rounded breakfasts are best for a child's maximum
performance level.
