Welcome to the City of Swan On behalf of Council, I welcome you to the City of Swan. From pristine bushland and rural landscapes, to the iconic Swan Valley, busy commercial precincts and rapidly growing residential suburbs, we are incredibly diverse and each place has its own unique characteristics. We take our name from the Swan River (Derbarl Yerrigan) that runs through our beautiful City. We are a place with tremendous history, as the original inhabitants of this land, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation, have been here for more than 40,000 years. Guildford was also one of the first towns established in the Swan River Colony in 1829. Our City is growing rapidly, with our population set to more than double by 2050. We are committed to meeting your needs as new residents by providing you with purpose-built and sustainable facilities, and affordable services. We have three Swan Active centres which offer group fitness and swimming lessons. You can also discover a range of programs, activities and clubs at our six community libraries. There are plenty of ways for you to get involved in our community, with many volunteer opportunities and grants available for community projects. I also encourage you to visit our website for news on upcoming community events and workshops in your area. You can keep updated and have your say on local topics and consultations via the Have Your Say page on the City’s website. I’d like to thank you for deciding to join us and becoming part of our diverse, vibrant and energetic community. Cr Kevin Bailey Mayor, City of Swan

It is compulsory for dogs aged over three months and cats aged over six months to be registered with the City and to be microchipped. To register your dog or cat, fill out a registration form and submit it in person to our administration building, a library, via post or by emailing a scanned copy to swan@swan.wa.gov.au. The forms can be printed from our website or picked up at City buildings. If you find a dog or cat roaming the streets or have lost your pet, contact the City of Swan by calling 9267 9267. There is also a list of currently impounded animals on the City’s website. Many of the City’s parks and reserves can be used to exercise your pets, full details are available on the City’s website. www.swan.wa.gov.au/animals Rates Local government rates allow the City of Swan to provide a wide range of services to the community.
