Suggested Reading, Viewing and Key Revision Websites:
   • MathsWatch – Students will be provided with a login for MathsWatch. This is an online learning
platform where work can be set by the class teacher for pupils to practice questions at home.
This can be used as homework or for revision pupils. MathsWatch also provides videos for
pupils to watch to aid them in the completion of questions – this allows pupils to gain some
extra practice in completing questions that they may have struggled with in lesson.
   • Edexcel Revision Guides for Maths (Foundation + Higher) – Guides that pupils can purchase
so that they can independently learn and revise topics at home. A revision guide and a revision
question booklet can be purchased from ParentPay.
   • Google Classroom – Students will be given a log in at the start of the year. After assessments
reviewing learning which take place after every two weeks, and after every mock exam, staff in
the Maths department record themselves completing every questions. All videos are then
uploaded to Google Classroom for students to view and appropriate ones independently.

Revision Strategy 1:
Complete past papers. In the build up to mock exams, staff will usually prepare students with past
paper content to revise from. In addition, students can go to MathsGenie.co.uk at any point
throughout the year to download past papers and student-friendly worked solutions.

Revision Strategy 2:
Use MathsWatch Independently, completing any work set and watching videos on topics that you
struggle with. In addition, use revision guides, annotate notes and make flashcards to help recall
formulae.

Revision Strategy 3:
After assessments and after every mock exam login to Google Classroom to view the appropriate
videos, on questions you stuck on independently. The best thing to do is to pause the video and have
another go at the questions first, before watching and listening to the model solution. Ensure you a
familiarizing yourself of the format of questions and the paper.

English Literature Revision Strategy 1:
Use Cornell note sheets to make key notes about the
Literature texts you have studied. Split up an A4 page
as shown here. Put your main notes in the first section.
Key words, comments or questions in the second box
and a summary of key points in the third box.

English Literature Revision Strategy 2:
Draw out characters; label them with the key attributes of that character, key quotations
that they say or are said about them and the main events in the text that they are directly
involved in.

English Literature Revision Strategy 3:
Create a theme mind map. Plot all of the themes on a large piece of paper. Draw lines
between the themes that have a relationship or are important to each other. Label the line
with why you have drawn it there and quotations you could use to talk about these themes
or relationships in the exam.

Science Revision Strategy 1:
    • Create cue cards – summarise sections onto small index cards and test yourself on them
        each day.
    • Use them to create summaries including key diagrams key processes in bullet pointed lists
        and key words and definition.
Science Revision Strategy 2:
Quiz cards – on google classroom is a set of quiz cards and also quick quiz questions to make your
own.
Use card or paper to make your own quiz cards that you can test yourself or someone can test you
on.
Stage 1 – weekly quizzing
Take 20 cards and quiz yourself for a week. (Set 1 – daily)
Remove the ones you get right at the end of the week (Set 2 weekly) and add more to make up the
set of 20. Repeat this each week.
Stage 2 - fortnightly
At the end of every other week – test yourself on the cards removed the previous week.
If you get them right – put them aside to review in a month (Set 3 – monthly)
If you get them wrong – add them back to Set 1 – daily
Stage 3 - monthly
Every month – take the cards in Set 3 and review and test yourself.
If you get them right – keep them in the monthly set 3
If you get them wrong – put them back into the Set 2 – weekly group.
The idea is to move cards up to set 3, while only introducing new ones on a weekly basis.
The fortnightly testing is to practice those that you may have forgotten until you place them in the
monthly Set 3
The Set 3 – monthly group – this is constant review to check they recall them.
Science Revision Strategy 3:
MATHEMATICS MAKES UP:
20% of biology exam, 30% of chemistry exam, 40% of physics exam

                                GCSE Physics Formula by topic
Students need to be able to recall….
                          Motion (paper 1)
distance travelled = average speed × time d=sxt
            acceleration = change in velocity ÷ time taken                      a = (v – u)
                                                                                       t
                    Motion and forces (paper 1)
                     force = mass × acceleration                                F=m×a
weight = mass × gravitational field strength W=m×g
               momentum = mass × velocity (Higher)                              p=m×v
work done = force × distance moved in the direction of the force E=Fxd
               kinetic energy = ½ × mass × (velocity)2 KE = ½ × m × v2

History Revision Strategy 1:
Self-quizzing – use the self-quizzing sheets to learn the key topic content. Fold back your first
attempt and keep trying to read then write out the key content. Once you have finished the first
pack, go right back to the beginning and repeat. By constantly revisiting the material, you will find
that you are much more secure in your knowledge and you will be able to recall key sentences,
dates and quotations much easier in the exam.
History Revision Strategy 2:
Revision Quiz Cards – use the revision quiz cards that have been emailed to you for each topic.
Spend 20 minutes three times a week quizzing yourself and asking others to quiz you for the
answers to the key questions. Shuffle the pack each time you begin so that you have to recall the
information in different orders. Arrange the pack into topics and then go through each topic, then
shuffle again. The more you quiz the more secure and confident you will feel with the content when
you enter the exam.
History Revision Strategy 3:
Brainscape – Fantastic online resource where you can produce your own flashcards or use ready-
made flashcards to learn content quickly. Your Google Classroom has a link to all the flash cards
created for you.

Key Revision Websites:

Individual / Home Study Strategy 1:
Take as many photographs as possible relevant to your chosen question. THIS IS ESSENTIAL! Close-
up (Macro) shots, shots from different angles – high level, eye level, low level etc. Look for and bring
out the formal elements in your shots. Look for lines, textures, colours, patterns etc. Try to be
creative in terms of shooting angle etc. Think about how you will use the images to create an
interesting final outcome. How does your work LINK to the artists whose work you have studied?

Individual / Home Study Strategy 2:
You need to build up a strong portfolio of relevant images for your examination project. Save the
images to your google drive so that they are accessible in class time.

Individual / Home Study Strategy 3:
Use your Adobe CC Account to access Adobe Photoshop CC on your own computer at home. Load
images that you have taken and experiment with the various tools and filters to see how you can
manipulate them and create interesting, artistic outcomes. Always keep the original photograph –
DO NOT over-write it. These images CAN be used as part of your Component 2 workbook to help
you achieve more marks in each of the assessment objectives.
