GENERAL INFORMATION
The Nonqualifying Competition at the 2019 Eastern Adult Sectional Figure Skating
Championships will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S.
Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, as well as any pertinent updates which
have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website.

The 2019 Eastern Adult Nonqualifying Figure Skating Championships will be held
March 8 – 10, 2019 at the Haverford Township Skatium Ice Arena located at 1018 Darby
Road, Havertown, PA 19083. The Championships are sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating
and hosted by the Crossroads Figure Skating Club (CFSC).

This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as
defined by the Eligibility Rules, who are currently registered members of a U.S. Figure
Skating member club, a collegiate club or are individual members in accordance with
the current rulebook. Please refer to the current rulebook for non-U.S. Citizens.

ENTRIES
The entry deadline for the 2019 Eastern Adult Sectional Nonqualifying Championships is
February 1, 2019 at 11:59 PM ET. After the close of entries, there will be absolutely NO
competition fee (neither entry fees nor practice ice/supplemental credential purchases)
refunds granted, unless an event is canceled.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:
    1.  Login to Members Only using your member number and password at
       www.usfsaonline.org.
    2.  Click the blue EMS button.
    3.  Choose the Competition Registration button from the right hand menu.
    4.  Select “2019 Eastern Adult Nonqualifying Figure Skating Championships”.

    $150 First Single Event
    $150 First Dance Event per team
    $150 First Pairs Event per team
    $100 Each subsequent event

ASSIGNMENT OF GROUPS
• Young Adult 18 – 20 years
• Class I 21 – 35 years
• Class II 36 – 45 years
• Class III 46 – 55 years
• Class IV 56 – 65 years
• Class V 66 years and over

Competitors shall be eligible to enter events based on their age and test status as of
February 1, 2019. Entrants may skate one level above that for which they qualify, but they
may not skate down in any event. Skaters may compete in as many disciplines as qualified
by their test level (or one above, but not both) and age, but may compete in only one
event per discipline (except solo dance).

Competitors may enter both partnered and solo dance events. Men and women will be
combined in Adult 1 through Adult Bronze free skate and compulsory moves (based upon
the Adult Competition Series rules). At the discretion of the Chief Referee, age categories or
genders may be combined to allow skaters the chance to compete against other skaters.
For events divided into groups, no final rounds will be skated.

FOREIGN SKATERS
Non-U.S. skaters intending to register for this competition must set up a non-member
account prior to registering for the competition. This can be done by choosing the “Non-
Member/Create Account” option on the Members Only login page.
EMS SKATER PORTAL
Once online registration has been completed, you will gain access to your EMS Skater
Portal for this competition. This is where you will manage music and PPC upload as well
as purchase practice ice, view the competition schedule (once available) and update
coach information. To access your skater portal, click the BLUE Event Management
System button on the Members Only landing page then select the competition name
from options at the bottom of the screen.

JUDGING SYSTEM
The International Judging System (IJS) will be used for Adult Silver through Masters Jr/Sr free
skate events. All other events will be judged using the 6.0 majority system.

The 2019 Eastern Adult Nonqualifying Championships consist of the following events:

 • Adult Beginner through Adult Masters Jr/Sr Compulsories
 • Adult 1 through Adult 6 Programs
 • Adult 1 through Adult 6 Compulsories

This competition is part of the U.S. Figure Skating Adult Competition Series

ARENA INFORMATION
All events will be skated on the Haverford Township Skatium’s ice surface. The Skatium is a
single-surface facility that features a standard NHL-sized rink (200 feet (61 m) × 85 feet (26 m)
with a corner radius of 28 feet (8.5 m)) located at 1018 Darby Road in Havertown,
Pennsylvania 19083; tel 610-853-2085. On-site (free) parking, dressing rooms with showers, pro
shop, Hav-a- Burger Café, and wifi-access are features of the facility. Please consult the CFSC
website, www.crossroadsfsc.org, for a location map with directions from points north and
south.

MUSIC & PLANNED PROGRAM CONTENT
All competition music and PPC must be electronically submitted via the EMS Skater Portal
through the Music & Program Content tab no later than February 1, 2019. Late fees will be
applied if the deadline is missed. Late fee is $25 per music/PPC requirement. PPC is only
required for IJS events.

All music must meet the following criteria. If you have questions about what format you
have, please contact your coach and get a new version of your music that meets the
criteria listed below.

MUSIC CRITERIA:
  • File Format: MP3 (only format EMS will accept)
          o For assistance with file conversation, click here.
          o Bit Rate: 192 kbps or higher and Sample Rate: 44,100 kHz
  • This will be verified by the music chair and they may request you upload a corrected
     file
  • Leaders and trailers (the silence or "dead space" before and after the actual start and
     end of the program music) may not exceed two (2) seconds. We prefer that there be
     NO leaders or trailers at all. Excessive leaders and trailers may disrupt the playing of the
     music during competition.

Competitors must also bring a copy of their competition music on CD as a backup in case of
technical difficulties and must be available rink side during the competition. Only CDs
(standard CD-R format only) will be accepted for backups and must be clearly marked with
the competitor’s name, event, and running time.

ADMISSION
Daily admission passes will be available for purchase for $10/day on site at the registration
desk and cashier’s window at the main entrance. All-events passes will be available for
online pre-purchase only for $25 for the duration of the Championships at
www.crossroadsfsc.org.

CREDENTIALS
Each competitor will receive complimentary credentials for ONE designated approved
coach. The credentials are marked with the individual’s name and are non-transferable. You
must have credentials to enter Haverford Township Skatium Ice Arena’s warm-up area and
the locker rooms. Additional coach credentials may be purchased at the registration desk.
Additional coach credentials badges are $20.00.

At the time of registration, competitors will receive their credential badges. Coaches will
pick up their credential badge separately at check-in.

A photo ID must be shown by all chaperones and coaches when the credential is picked up.
BADGES are non-transferable! Badges must be worn at all times while in Haverford Township
Skatium Ice Arena. Any lost badges will be replaced for an additional charge of $40.00 per
badge.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography will be available at the event. See competition website for more details. Please
note: Flash photography of the competition, including practice ice, is strictly prohibited per
U.S. Figure Skating policy.

VIDEOGRAPHY
A complimentary video link will be sent to each competitor for each event entered at the
conclusion of the Championships. Please note: videotaping of the competition, including
practice ice, in any form is strictly prohibited per U.S. Figure Skating policy.

SPECTATOR CONDUCT
Tossies will be available for purchase at the arena. They must stay fully wrapped so they do
not leave any debris on the ice. Live flowers are not allowed as tossies at all. Violation of this
rule may result in the offender being ejected from the arena.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
The 2019 Eastern Adult Sectionals event program will include competitor’s names and
photos. To have your photograph included in the program, please submit a digital 2"x3"
photo (passport size) in .jpeg or .tiff form in the highest quality possible: photos should be a
minimum of 300 pixels per inch and at least 1.6MB uncompressed.

Please submit all photos by noon on February 1, 2019. Photos received after this date are not
guaranteed placement in the program. Photos should be sent to:

MERCHANDISE
Event merchandise will be available for pre-purchase online at www.crossroadsfsc.org and
on site in limited quantity. Additional vendors will be at the competition venue during the
Championships selling event souvenirs/accessories/services.

SCHEDULE / GROUPS
A tentative schedule will be posted on the competition website. This schedule is subject to
change based on the number of entries. An updated schedule will be posted on the event
web site https://www.easternadultsectionals.com as soon as possible following the close of
entries. (Entries close on February 1, 2019).

ACCOMODATIONS/TRAVEL
Philadelphia Marriott West is the official hotel. Please make your reservations early to
guarantee you have the necessary room(s). All hotel information can be viewed on the
competition website here.

COMPETITORS PARTY
All competitors are invited to attend the Competitors “Wine and Cheese Reception”.

PRACTICE ICE
All practice ice for Nonqualifying events will be unofficial practice ice and will be available
for purchase in the EMS portal via desktop or mobile device. Competitors will receive an
email alerting them when practice ice will be available for purchase. Music will NOT be
played on unofficial practice sessions. Purchasing information and directions will be
available on the competition website.
