Rules & Guidelines

   §   This contest is open to Orange County residents ages 6 to 18.
   §   The deadline to submit your artwork is 5:00 pm on February 12th, 2021.
       (Note: Your teacher/school/youth group may have an earlier due date)
   §   Only one entry per participant is allowed.
   §   Entries must be horizontal/landscape. Vertical entries will be disqualified.
   §   All artwork must fit within a 10” x 7 ½” space on white paper. (Note: Please utilize the box on the last
       page of this packet to draw your entry)
   §   The 2021 Blue Ribbon Youth Art Contest theme/slogan is: “Keep Me Safe, Healthy, and Happy!”
       (Note: Slogan must appear exactly as written here within your entry)
   §   Entry must include a drawing of at least one blue ribbon (Note: Use the one on this page as an
       example)
   §   Entry description should fit within the provided lines on the Entry Form (2-3 sentences).
   §   Descriptions should use appropriate language and be suitable for display/publicity use.
   §   Artwork cannot include any trademarked characters (e.g., Disney). Entries that violate this rule will be
       disqualified.
   §   Artwork cannot include the name of any organization (nonprofit or company, school, place of worship,
       group, etc.). Entries that violate this rule will be disqualified.
   §   Examples of acceptable mediums include (but are not limited to): markers, crayons, colored pencils,
       watercolor paint, etc. Entries should be easy to see and dark enough for reprinting.
   §   Include the artist’s first and last name in your email submission and on the Entry Form
       (Note: Please do not write the artist’s name within the artwork)
   §   The Entry Form must be completed. Please make sure all contact information is accurate and the
       parent/guardian signature and contact information is completed. Make sure the artist’s name is spelled
       correctly on the form and their grade and age are included. This information may appear on future
       awards certificates and publicity.
   §   Most importantly…HAVE FUN!

Submission Instructions

   §   Submit a clear, well-lit picture/scan/viewable form of the artwork and the entire completed Blue
       Ribbon Youth Art Contest Packet to BRartcontest@theraisefoundation.org by 5:00 pm on
       February 12th, 2021.
   §   Winners (1st - 5th place) will be asked to send in their original artwork at a later date for
       display/publicity use. Please care for the condition of your artwork until this time.

Judging & Winner Notification

   §   Entries will be judged by the Blue Ribbon Committee, graphic designers, and representatives of the
       Child Abuse Prevention Council. Scoring is based on creativity, artistic skill, and the ability to reflect
       on the contest’s slogan.
   §   Winners will be notified by email or phone by the middle of March.

Recognition & Prizes

    §   Winning art may be viewed during the virtual Blue Ribbon Kick Off Ceremony in Spring 2021 on
        March 30, 2021. All youth who enter the contest will be recognized at the Blue Ribbon Family Fun Day
        in April (Date TBD).
    §   Based on the entries received, one 1st place winner will be chosen from each school age level
        (elementary, middle school, high school) as well as several honorable mentions.
    §   First place winners will be highlighted on social media, receive a special gift card, and be recognized in
        their community. Other examples of recognition include: artwork featured in a roaming art exhibit,
        newspapers/newsletters, etc.
    §   Honorable mentions will receive a special Certificate of Excellence and all other participants will
        receive a Participation Certificate.

Exclusive Permission

    §   By entering this competition, you are granting The Raise Foundation an exclusive perpetual license to
        reproduce images of your artwork on our website, electronic communications, printed materials, and
        signage. Artwork may also be used for social media, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, mugs, calendars, and
        other items. The goal of this use is to further the safety and wellbeing of children through promoting
        community awareness.
