Evacuation of Passengers
from Ahmedabad Station
after Lockdown 1.0
- Large number of passengers were
stranded at Ahmedabad Station, due to
non-availability of local transport
(including buses).
- Arrangement for free transportation of
passengers in coordination with AMC,
round the clock.
- This 24 hour operation was closely
monitored until the last passenger
moved out of the station premises
safely.

Feeding needy and poor
- Due to loss of livelihood amid lockdown, Coolies, contract
labour, homeless, slum dwellers, etc. were failing to make
ends meet across the Ahmedabad division. To help them:
- DRM Benevolent fund was set up and contributions
were invited from officers and staff across the division.
- About 3200 specialized dry ration kits were also
distributed, sufficient for a family of four for 2 weeks, for
distribution among the coolies, casual labour, slum
dwellers, etc.
- Distribution was done duly co-ordinating with
appropriate state govt authorities for locating the needy.
Without caring about the risk of getting infected, the
distribution team consisting of departmental staff
reached to the needy areas.
- Total 2.75 Lakh food packets distributed. Out of this 1.7
Lakh were from DRM benevolent fund.

•Issues affecting progress of important projects …..
● Provision of third line between Vatva-Ahmedabad so as to ease the congestion at
Ahmedabad (Kalupur) is held up due to existence of a Mazaar in the alignment.
Alternate arrangement for entry/exit to this mazaar is developed by Railway. However,
Trustees of Dargah filed a suit in Waqf Tribunal , gandhinagar and status quo has been
ordered. The issue needs to be resolved.
● Ahmedabad Coaching Complex: Work of proposed extension of pit line towards
Sabarmati end, so as to examine 24 coach trains, has been has been held up due to
existence of Shiv temple in the alignment . Railway offered alternate location adjacent
to the existing temple and assured of shifting of temple at Railways cost. However, the
trustees of the temple are not conceding with the agreement. The issue needs to be
resolved. The mandir needs to be shifted to an alternate location, so as to complete the
work .
● Ahmedabad Coaching Complex: Work of proposed extension of pit line towards
Vadodara end, so as to examine 24 coach train,s, has been held up due to existence of
shaking minarets adjacent to the alignment. Railways has been asked to stop the
construction work by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) due to close proximity to
the shaking minarets. The train movements in this portion will be with a speed of 8
KMPH only and hence will not affect the strength of this archaeological structure. The
issue needs to be resolved.Thank You Ahmedabad Division, Western Railway
