Peel Saver – Ecological Fries Packaging
Fries companies produce a lot of potato peels waste.
The idea of this project is to use this waste material in
order to create a street food packaging. The potato
peel is made up of starches and fibers components,
which after maceration and natural drying, acquire the
ability to bond with each other and harden. The obtai-
ned material is completely made of production was-
te and is 100% biodegradable. After being used, the
packaging can be usefully re-inserted in the biological
cycle becoming animal food or fertilizer for plants.

Cladophora – A Water Saving Resource
One of the main factors contributing to the ecological
imbalance of fresh water and of saltwater systems is
the textile industry because of its wasteful and careless
use of matter and water resources. But now part of this
water crisis becomes part of its solution: Cladophora is
a filamentous alga growing in abundance because of
human activity. This project harvests the fibrous algae
from Berlin lakes and utilises their different qualities to
produce textiles. Some Cladophora can be processed
into translucent non-woven fabric or to be woven as
yarn into a surface. But with other biodegradable addi-
tives it can also be processed into a compostable bio-
plastic which could, in the future, replace PVC foil for
raincoats or bags in the fast fashion industry.

Desintegra.me
Desintegra.me intends to replace single-use plastics
with a new material extracted from algae. The Spanish
term “Desintegra me” implies, that it will „disappear“
after using it. Pigments are extracted from the skin of
                discarded fruits and vegetables.

The material can have different degrees of flexibility,
and can be rigid and brittle to flexible and elastic. It
degrades naturally over a period of 2 to 4 months de-
                pending on the atmospheric conditions.
