B.I.G. WELCOME TO A VERY BIG NIGHT - Brain Injury Alliance of Washington
The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington's
13th Annual Gala, Dinner & Auction
Dear Friends of BIAWA,
Unbreakable – spirit, persistence, dedication, support, community. This
runs through the veins of all who are here. We have grown and come
together to form the Unbreakable spirit of BIAWA and all who are a part of
us. This includes our Board, staff, individuals we serve, volunteers, families,
professionals, and the variety of groups who all intersect at BIAWA. By being
here, you are part of the Unbreakable thread that moves us forward to do all
we can today and in the future. You ensure that we are able to implement our
mission to increase public awareness, support, and hope.
Simply put, tonight changes lives. This event has allowed BIAWA to
continue leading in the state and nation by providing innovative, critical
services and supports across Washington State. It is because of your
generosity that we are able to provide support groups, social services,
enrichment classes, research contributions, and more, to our community at
no cost.
Our capacity to serve continues to expand. BIAWA’s Resource Center,
outreach events, education and development trainings, Brain Health &
Wellness classes, and social engagement activities are seeing their highest
numbers to date. As such, we continue to seek out additional ways to support
survivors, families, friends, and caregivers through ongoing conversations
and partnerships statewide.
We welcome the new guests joining us tonight. A Brain Injury is not a one-
time event, it is a life-altering moment that will forever affect the survivor,
their family, and their community. Being here tonight ensures that there will
be that welcoming community to those in need.
Raise your bid cards high and often! Together we are an Unbreakable
force! Consider the Gala tie that binds, that connects us all to one another,
tonight and throughout the year. By being here tonight, you are part of a
community that cares, and you are making a tremendous difference in the
future of many.
Thank you!

Guest Code of Conduct
We want tonight to be an enjoyable and memorable evening for all.
We ask all guests to be responsible for their actions at all times.
Always drink responsibly and please do not consume alcohol to
excess. The Westin staff may refuse to serve alcoholic beverages
with full support of the BIAWA to any guest who does not consume
alcohol responsibly. They may also request verification of a guest’s
age to ensure they are of age to consume alcohol pursuant to this
policy. The Westin Valet service is also committed to ensuring that
all patrons are safe to drive.
We strongly urge guests to reserve a hotel room, utilize a taxi/car
service, or have a designated driver assigned who does not drink.
We want everyone to be responsible and enjoy the evening.

                         Heads or Tails

Everyone is invited to join in on this evening's game of
"Heads or Tails." It's only $10 to play!
The auctioneer will ask everyone to choose "heads" or "tails"
by placing their hands in the appropriate spot
(that is, your "head" or your "tail.")
Through a series of coin flips, players will slowly be eliminated until
only one person is left standing — the lucky winner of a
SIX-Liter Imperial Bottle of Tom Scott 2015 Barn Burner
             Cabernet Sauvignon valued at $1,420!

Brain Injury Model Systems, UW Sports Concussion Clinic, Seattle Seahawks, NFL and many
business organizations.

He has been recognized for his work by the American College of Sports Medicine, Seattle
Business Magazine as a “Best Attorney”, SuperLawyers, and American Association of Justice.
Richard received the Advocacy Award from the BIAWA and Seattle’s Jefferson Award for his

requires a portion of funds collected from traffic violations to be directed to the Washington
State Traumatic Brain Injury Council to support survivors of brain trauma.

The attorneys and staff at Adler Giersch are passionate and dedicated advocates for their
clients and community, and donate countless hours and sponsorship roles at many BIAWA
events. Other examples of their advocacy in the Brain Injury community include establishing
the Zackery Lystedt Sports Concussion Endowed Academic Chair and the Endowed Fund for
the Advancement of Traumatic Brain Injury Research to foster innovative research in
traumatic Brain Injury. The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington is incredibly grateful for their
guidance and longstanding support, and the organization is honored to celebrate them this
