      MDANTSANE
      The Egerton Memorial: commemorates the
      Egerton Massacre of 1983, when 11 residents
      of Mdantsane were killed in clashes with
      the Ciskei police during bus boycotts. Police

      NU1 Police Station served as a prison where
      political activists were detained.
      The NU1 Cemetery: is the final resting place
      of many famous leaders of the Liberation

BHISHO
Bhisho Massacre Site: situated outside the
Bhisho Stadium, between Bhisho and KWT.
This Massacre took place in 1992; two years
thereafter, the ANC came into power in SA. The
purpose of the march was to force Brigadier
Oupa Gqozo to step down from power and
abolish the Ciskei Homeland. The victims were
buried in Ginsberg; the monument in Bhisho
commemorates the incident.
