Overview
Selangor is the fastest developing state in Malaysia,
with the highest population of 6.38 million people,
comprising of Malays (41%), Chinese (37%), Indians
(19%) and others (3%). Bahasa Malaysia and English
are widely spoken. The official religion is Islam but
other faiths such as Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity,
Hinduism and Sikhism are also practiced.

The multicultural heritage of the country is richly
celebrated in this state all year round. Depending on
the time of the year, the visitor may just encounter
a kaleidoscope of festivals, traditions and cultural
festivities such as AidilFitri and AidilAdha, Chinese
New Year, Mid Autumn Festival, Thaipusam, Deepavali,
Pongal and Christmas.

Places of interest are easily accessible. Public
transportation such as buses, taxis, the LRT (Light Rail
Transit) and MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) make it easy to
get around. Signage are clear and informative for those
who choose to drive.

Visitors would enjoy the contrast of the urban hustle
and bustle that is Kuala Lumpur. Away from KL’s
metropolitan citiscape many natural wonders await
such as Kampung Kuantan Fireflies; the many
waterfalls in Ulu Langat, Ulu Yam and Rawang; as well
as Broga Hill.

There is a great variety of food to sample and interesting
handicrafts for the keen collector.

Many trendy malls attract the curious shoppers, each
offering a one-stop shopping experience. Much can be
found under one roof – the latest fashion accessories
and attires, classy to charming home decorations and
gardening items, fast food to satisfy hungry shoppers,
fresh produce for the discerning cook, books and music
store galore – just about anything one could wish for.
The shopping malls here are on a par with the best in
other major cities all over the world, stocked with the
latest international and local brands. KOTA DARUL EHSAN
