Overview Selangor is the fastest developing state in Malaysia, with the highest population of 6.38 million people, comprising of Malays (41%), Chinese (37%), Indians (19%) and others (3%). Bahasa Malaysia and English are widely spoken. The official religion is Islam but other faiths such as Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, Hinduism and Sikhism are also practiced.
