                                Fourth Annual Symposium 2019

Symposium Theme: Building Just Communities and Shared Futures for
                          Humankind
                              Dates: October 9 to 12, 2019
                    Venue: Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan, China

Wuhan University of Technology, China, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, India, University of
Eastern Finland, Finland and the University of Applied Sciences, Landshut, Germany, invite
abstracts for the 4th Annual BNFGSW Symposium. The symposium is one of a series of themed
scholarly gatherings of African, Asian, Australian, European, United Kingdom, and United States
of America academics committed to developing new networks and frameworks for promoting
global social work. The theme of this year’s symposium is building just communities and shared
futures and reflects the professions commitment to promoting cohesive, inclusive and
sustainable societies. Migration, social integration and diversity continue to be important topics
for this year’s symposium. Research, policy, practice, and education priorities in response to
global issues will be explored over the four day program.

The symposium is specifically targeted at social work practitioners, students, and academics
committed to promoting a just for all. The symposium organizers extend a special invitation to
Social Work Master and Doctoral/PhD students to join us, given their future role in global social
work. The host organizers will arrange a special youth dialogue event aimed at promoting
young people’s understanding of current and future global issues. Field visits will be
organized as part of the symposium program so that participants can learn more about social
welfare provision in China.

The symposium will offer a balanced academic and social program to forge new friendships and
networks and provide a unique opportunity for participants to experience the sights and
attractions of Wuhan City.

Guidelines for Abstracts
The deadline to submit abstracts is May 30, 2019.
Abstracts should be no more than 500 words in length (Arial front size 10, 1.5 spacing) and
provide the following information:
Brief Bio (not more than 100 words including, Name, Title, Organizational Affiliation, Faculty
Member/ Doctoral Student/Master Student/Practitioner etc.)
Research Abstract limited to 400 words to include: Aim, Objectives, Rationale, Literature
Review, Methods, Findings, Implications, Conclusion

How to submit your abstract
1. Submit your attached abstract to e-mail address: 445724424@qq.com
2. Attach your abstract as a PDF document (email title: SYMPOSIUM-YOUR SURNAME-
ABSTRACT- TITLE e.g. SYMPOSIUM-ANAND-ABSTRACT-REFUGEES IN FINLAND)
Abstracts should explore new lines of critical thinking in global social work research, education,
policy and practice. Different disciplinary lenses will certainly be encouraged.

Registration and Accommodation Details
1. Participants are advised to register early so that visa application can be completed well in
advance. A letter of invitation may be required for visa applications.
2. There is no registration fee for conference participants, however participants must register
prior to July 30, 2019 with the conference organizer on email 445724424@qq.com. In the email
participants should include the following information:
Name, Official title, Country, Affiliated organization, Email address, Status i.e.
teacher/student/researcher/practitioners/policy maker and whether assistance is required
from the conference organizer to book accommodation.
4. Hotel accommodation booked through the conference organizer is offered at a discounted
rate of RMB 380-450 a night. Participants are responsible to pay for their own accommodation
expenses. Chinese hotels usually provide free breakfast and WIFI.
5. Meals and refreshments during conference proceedings are included in the free registration,
kindly sponsored by Wuhan University of Technology.
6. Field visits to social agencies will be organized during the program and free bus transfer will
be provided.
