PRESIDENT’S WELCOME
Season 2020 is just around the corner, and I for one can't wait!
The club has much to work on for the upcoming season, with a record number of
players taking the field in 2019, thanks to the club growing to three men's teams and
two women's teams - congratulations once again to the women's reserves who brought
home the flag!
I believe we have the basis for continual improvement across all teams. In 2019, each
side finished in their highest positions to date in their respective grades which is a
fantastic achievement. We can continue our push up the ladder in 2020, though it will
require commitment from all players for the duration of the season.
In return for each player's commitment, the club will provide a welcoming and
encouraging environment for all to take part in our great game. The committee's focus
for 2020 is to ensure everyone involved with the club - players, supporters, support
staff, sponsors and the wider community - enjoys themselves and participates in a
united club environment. We will be striving for success both on and off the field, and
feel we have the personnel to make it happen.
For anyone who doesn't know, we'll be dropping back to a single women's team this
season. Numbers on and off the field were a little stretched last year with two teams,
and after a number of players opted to stop playing footy or transfer out during the off
season, we're looking to solidify the women's program with a single team. While this is a
negative in terms of total female participants, it can also be seen as a positive, as we can
now host triple headers each week, alternating between the women and the thirds
which will further create a united club.
A focus of the committee for 2020 is for the playing group to take on the running of the
club - the players (of which I am one) are the people getting the most from it so should
be putting the effort back in! We had terrific attendance to the AGM late last year, and
we were able to establish a complete and well balanced executive committee which
already puts us in good stead for 2020. There are still some areas that could use some
extra assistance, namely in social functions, digital/social communications and

If you're interested in helping out in these areas, or know of anyone that might be able to offer assistance, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We have quite a few new faces at the club this year, so it’s important that everyone gets to know each other! Most have likely already met at training, though we also have quite a few social events throughout the year, starting with the season launch on March 28th. I ask that all players please make an effort to attend, even if it’s for an hour or two. The other big event of the year that the club would like all to attend is the annual ball earmarked for June, more information on that will follow as the season progresses. Lastly and most importantly, if anyone at the club has any concerns about how things that are happening at the club, please feel free to speak to myself either in person or give me a call. Part of my job is to make sure the club runs as smoothly as possible this year and beyond. There aren’t many times throughout the year that I won’t be around though if I’m away for any reason please contact another member of the committee and they’ll pass your message on to me. Building our season with the pillars of satisfaction and success will ensure 2020 is a year to remember for all! FOOTBALL
The club will be fielding four teams in 2020: Senior Women, Senior Men, Reserves Men
and Men’s Thirds.
To be eligible to play in any of these teams, you must:
Be cleared to the club and be registered online with Sporting Pulse. Details of
how to do this can be found at www.canterburyfootball.club/registrations.
Pay your membership in full or agree upon a payment instalment option with
the CFC committee
Payment of or agreement to pay the 2020 Player Membership Subscription is
required by no later than Round 1, non-payment will result in non-selection.
Complete a medical form and detail any existing medical conditions. This is also
now part of the registration process.
Secure a player sponsor (details for which are attached to this document).
Purchase the required playing uniform (home shorts, away shorts, socks).
Jumpers are also available to purchase if you wish (recommended), though the
club can also loan one to you for the season which needs to be returned at the
final game of the year
If you need to obtain a clearance, please give your full name & DOB to your coach or see
BJ Lashbrook who will be able to assist.
PAYMENT OF FEES
Membership fees for all levels are covered on the next page, though in terms of
payment the club has two options available:

Limited Medical Cover (players must cover their own ambulance costs and
non-medicare expenses, it’s recommended that all players hold both
private health insurance and ambulance cover)

CFC POLICIES
A modern, contemporary football club represents community values and expectations.
The committee has within the past 12 months introduced an Anti-Bullying policy and a
Code of Conduct as an initial step to meeting the standards required of us. We are
developing further policies, specifically relating to Diversity, Social Media and
Concussion. The policies are prominently featured on the Club’s website. Please take
the time to read them and importantly live and play by them.

maintains a pricing policy just above cost price to keep it as affordable as possible for all
players and supporters.
