Welcome to Wiltshire
A very warm welcome to the historic and picturesque County of Wiltshire, renowned throughout
the world for its mysterious stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury forming a designated
UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with its white chalk horses, beautiful rolling countryside
and historic towns and villages.
In addition to the principal market towns steeped in history and tradition, we have exquisite
villages and the beautiful City of Salisbury which, having developed and grown from the site of
an iron age fort about 2,500 years ago, became established as a town in the eleventh century.
To this day Salisbury cathedral remains home to one of only four surviving copies of the Magna
Carta, one of the most famous documents in the world dating back over 800 years. This
document remains a cornerstone of the British Constitution to this day.
Wiltshire is situated in the South West of England and is easily accessible by motorway, rail
and air.

Our Ceremony Rooms Salisbury
The historic City of Salisbury with its magnificent and famous cathedral is home to one of only

Welcoming Ceremony Citizenship Ceremony
What could be more special than welcoming a child into a family? Whether a new baby or an Congratulations if you are in the process of becoming a new British Citizen. A Citizenship

opportunity to celebrate this special occasion with you! Group ceremonies are held regularly in
our main registration buildings and are usually attended by a local dignitary. You may however
choose to have a private ceremony instead of attending a group ceremony. We can organise this
for you.
• A Welcoming or Naming ceremony provides a unique opportunity to make promises to
guide, nurture and protect your child. It can include promises from specially chosen
adults to show how much this child means to them and to offer you their support in your
child’s future.
• We can provide a personal, relaxed and happy ceremony, tailored to your wishes, which
can be held wherever and whenever you choose.
• Children of any age can have a Welcoming Ceremony and if you have more than one
child they can all take part in the same ceremony.
• This could also be combined with other ceremonies. Please speak to our ceremonies
team to find out more.
During the ceremony our new citizens are asked to make promises and swear or affirm an oath
to our Queen and country. The ceremony concludes when the new citizens are presented with
their certificate of naturalisation.
