Introduction
Attending Lady Manners School means more than achieving in the classroom. You
are all encouraged to enhance your personal development through following existing
interests and discovering new ones, by taking part in our huge range of extra-
curricular activities.
This booklet tells you about the clubs that are available and details of when and
where they run.
This year, all clubs in school will take place in year group bubbles, and some will be
on a rota basis in order to enable everyone to take part. If a club is due to take
place when you would normally be having lunch, you should bring a packed lunch
on that day, which you will be able to eat in one of the classrooms in your zone.
House Activities
House activities run throughout the year and there is something to interest
everyone. You may well have the opportunity to represent your house in
competitions and activities such as badminton, the house quiz, hockey, chess,
cricket, languages spelling bee, football, the literacy quiz, rugby, robotics, dance and
enterprise, to name just a few. Of course there is the grand finale of the year -
Sports Day - in which everyone can participate, whether it is as an athlete or a
supporter.Clubs and Activities by Day

using technology to continue to work together virtually.
Equestrian All Weekends Do you have a horse that is capable of jumping a minimum
Team 40 cm track for 'Grass Roots' show jumping qualification or a
minimum of 70 cm for NSEA National Championship
qualification? There are a range of different competition
heights available to suit most riders for both show jumping
and arena eventing. You can also compete in inter-school
dressage qualifiers at prelim, novice or elementary level. In
all disciplines riders compete as individuals and may also
compete and qualify in a team of three or four.
We have also been able to hold a number of free training
sessions for riders as a result of very generous sponsors.
If you have transport and are interested in representing the
school in the NSEA competitions then please contact Mrs
Green in the downstairs Science Office for further information
or look at the notice board on the Sports Link corridor. There
is a small fee for membership of the NSEA. Further

Genomics 12 Thursday BS1&2 As an IRIS (Institute for Research in Schools) school,
lunchtime students at Lady Manners have an opportunity to get
involved in annotating the genome of the whipworm which is
responsible for a major Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD)
worldwide. This worm is responsible for impacting on the
long-term health of both children and adults and has a
devastating effect on their ability to attend school or work
thereby perpetuating the poverty cycle for these people.
Students extend their knowledge beyond the A-level Biology
curriculum to annotate the genome of the whipworm using a
specially designed computer programme. There are now
apprenticeship degrees available to study at third level in this
area as the number of experts in this field is not sufficient to
meet the needs of this emerging field in biology and
medicine. As the project is being conducted by a group of
international scientists collaborating with students from a
number of schools across the UK, there are opportunities for
students to attend meetings or symposia where active
research is presented which could further extend their
experiences and interests.
German 11 Thursday Sc4 This club would cater for any particular needs of GCSE
Booster lunchtime German students, e.g. support with certain aspects of
grammar, boosting listening skills, coping with unknown
vocabulary. The half hour will provide additional support with
the preparations for the exam but also give students some
cultural input into life in German-speaking countries, music,
films, adverts and much more.Activity Year When Where Description
