W E A - GA 2019 Con feren ce Prosp ectus 5Conference Goals
The goals of the 2019 General Assembly (GA) are two-phase: immediate (within the first
month after the assembly), and one year after the event.
In November 2019: Immediately after the GA, participants will:
1. Experience a shift in mindset to understand and embrace the missional landscape
over the decade to come.
2. Have a unified goal for the next decade and clear direction as a global alliance,
launching a new era of holistic disciple-making initiatives.
3. Have a strategic on-the-ground local action plan developed by and with younger
leaders that reflect passion and intentionality to implement the new mindset of disci-
ple-making.
4. Be inspired and energized to execute the dramatic actions and efforts required
across regions, commissions, networks and other spheres of influence to successfully
achieve the goals.
November 2020: One year after the GA, the Global Church will witness:
1. WEA leaders at the global, regional and national level championing a new era (dec-
ade) of disciple making.
n Across regions, commissions, networks and local ministries, there are documented
working models of effective holistic disciple making.
n Across regions, commissions, networks and local ministries, there are mission
breakthroughs as a result of the global mindset shift to united, intergenerational
and holistic disciple-making.
2. WEA is emerging as the leading force of intergenerational discipleship in the glob-
al church.
3. Younger WEA leaders are emerging from their spheres of ministry as active and em-
powered implementers of the WEA vision.
4. Elder WEA leaders are actively guiding, modeling and mentoring the next generation
of emerging leaders, effectively ushering them in the new season of leadership for the
global alliance.

Conference Design
The WEA General Assembly is more than a one-time event, but is part of a longer process.
The event will launch a unifying journey of discerning the missional landscape for disci-
ple-making and define clearly our leadership mandate to fulfill the Great Commission in our
generation and the next.
CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
nn The THOUGHT PROCESS
Prior to the General Assembly, a series of ‘Study Groups’ within the WEA will be
convened between April and and November 2019, to lead the global reflection
and discernment process. The output of these Study Groups will be a Manifesto or
Statements on Critical issues, designed to exhort, reinforce and clearly articulate
the new season of mission and global direction of the WEA.
nn The EXPERIENCE
All the sessions of the GA event are designed to bring a refreshing experience of
hearing from God together, and receiving inspiration, as we seek to understand
and embrace what God is calling us to do in the next season as a global alliance.
We seek a breakthrough in our mindsets and processes, both as individual leaders
and as a global movement of leaders. The theme and goals of the conference will
be consistently clarifed, articulated and reinforced at the plenary sessions, work-
shops and special meeting sessions. There will be opportunities to reflect more
deeply in discussion groups. Finally, the GA will be like a family reunion, a heart-
warming time to reconnect and strengthen relationships as a global family.
nn The COMMITMENT
Clear follow-up actions from regional and national alliances, commissions, net-
works, and emerging younger leaders will be developed as concrete deliverables
of the GA. The WEA senior leadership will review and provide continuing unified
direction as actions are implemented within the next twelve months after the GA.
A special session for developing Strategic Planning Initiatives will be held during
the GA with the goal of immediately seeing local and on-the-ground actions being
implemented post GA. A Follow-Up Committee for the General Assembly will be
organized to support the senior leadership of WEA in monitoring, evaluating, and
championing commitments made and intensifying collaboration across various
levels of leadership and spheres of influence.
W E A - GA 2019 Con feren ce Prosp ectus 9nn The NEW LEADERSHIP
One of the most significant events in the 2019 General Assembly is the election of
the new International Council (IC). There will also be a business meeting of the WEA
members to officially approve, determine the directions, and agree on the overall
policies of the global alliance.
Conference Participants
nn REPRESENTATION
The WEA General Assembly is an invitation only event. Prospective partici-
pants need to represent various regions, be intergenerational and of mixed gender,
meaning current elder and younger leaders. Leaders of various Global issues and
causes from WEA commissions, networks and associate members will attend, and
leaders from other global movements will also be invited..
nn SECTORS
Participants will come from WEA Members (National Alliances), Associate Members
and Global Partners, Kingdom Network Leaders, Senior Leaders of other Global
Movements.
nn ROLES
In order to achieve the immediate and longer term goals of the General Assembly,
it is critically important to bring a strengths-based team of leaders from each of
the leadership sectors. In every group, there must be a mix of leaders with varied
strengths such as:
nn Endorsers, or ‘decision makers’, who are the approving authority and direc-
tion-setters, normally composed of elder leaders;
nn Influencers, or ‘mobilizers’, who have the passion, social skill and ability to mobi-
lize people and resources
nn Implementers, or ‘doers’, who will get the job done, and make the plans happen
at all levels, especially on the ground.
