Bachelor of Design Studies 1993
Deborah Riley is a four-time Emmy-award-
winning production designer and art director.
Her portfolio includes award-winning film
and television sets like Game
of Thrones, Moulin Rouge! and The Matrix.
In 2013, she secured a position as Production
Designer for TV series Game of Thrones, a
show which has been widely cited as one
of the most successful television shows in
history due to its film-like production values
with intricately detailed set design and
elaborate locations. During this time, she
managed an art department in excess of
100 people, across multiple countries. Her
work on Game of Thrones has won her four
consecutive Primetime Emmy awards for
Outstanding Production Design.
Dr John Maunder
Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery
2016, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) 2012
In 2012, Dr John Maunder graduated
from UQ with a Bachelor of Engineering.
On his graduation day, he found out he had
Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a rare form of blood
cancer. After graduating from Engineering,
he realised his passion was in medicine
and applied for a Bachelor of Medicine and
Bachelor of Surgery at UQ. Despite having
to undergo chemotherapy, Dr Maunder was
determined to finish his medical program,
which he did successfully in 2016. During
his treatment, he raised $100,000 through
cancer awareness events. Dr Maunder is
passionate about orthopaedic surgery
and currently works at the Sunshine Coast
University Hospital.
Tamara Richardson
Bachelor of Science 2018
Tamara Richardson is the Director
and Founder of PACE 48, a multinational
youth-led platform that promotes access
to cultural education across 48 countries
in the Asia-Pacific region. She created
PACE 48 in 2016 after struggling to find
cultural education resources. What initially
started as a Facebook page, with the
intention of sharing short videos on cultural
content, has evolved into a cultural education
organisation. Through this platform,
Ms Richardson has grown to be a voice
for intercultural relations all over the
Asia Pacific region, and she has won
several awards in recognition of
her accomplishments.
