“Transforming the way we work together to fulfil
consumer wishes better, faster and at less cost.”
ECR is unique. It is a flagship for collaboration. It keeps peers connected.
ECR facilitates collaboration & learning between trading partners to deliver consumer value.
We provide a neutral platform for retailers, manufacturers & service providers to discuss,
debate & develop better practices and new ways of working together.
Especially during the pandemic, ECR kept trading partners connected and up to date with the
constantly changing marketplace via online webinars & conferences.
The programme of events for 2021 will continue this emphasis with a strong focus on
delivering actionable insights at all online events as per feedback from Focus Groups in 2020.
ECR hosts events for company execs from CEO level to head of function and practitioner level.
The major benefit of being a member of ECR Ireland is attending these peer-to-peer
events & forums and availing of the networking & learning opportunities.

ECR SHOPPER INSIGHTS
WEBINARS
The pandemic has led to continuous changes in
shopper behaviour and category shifts.
Tracking these changes has been vital and we
expect shopper behaviour to continue to
significantly change throughout 2021.
The series of ECR Shopper Insights Webinars
will continue monthly with contributions and
actionable insights being offered by the data
providers opposite.
These updates were of massive benefit to ECR
members in 2020 and should be so again in
2021.
9NEW IN 2020
ECR DIGITAL PATH TO PURCHASE

objective of keeping trading partners in touch with
the latest developments & trends internationally &
at home.

10NEW IN 2020 ECR RETAILER UPDATES Retailers very much appreciate the need to communicate with trading partners and the industry at large during the pandemic. The ECR Retailer Trade Updates offers retailers the opportunity to engage with the industry and discuss their experience of the changes in shopper behaviour & operational consequences. Such updates are tremendously valuable for suppliers & service providers as they offer an opportunity to listen to & engage with retailers accordingly. Both Tesco & Musgraves used ECR Retailer Updates to engage with the industry in 2020 and will do so in 2021 once again.
Diversity refers to the traits and characteristics that
make people unique.
Inclusion refers to the behaviours and social norms that
ensure people feel welcome.
While there are many conversations happening about
diversity and inclusion in the workplace, few of them
focus on sharing what companies actually do and what
actions are effective.
This ECR Group will consider Why & How
1. Why Diversity & Inclusion matters.
2. How are companies implementing appropriate
action.
Features of this Group will be …
1. Quarterly Meetings
2. Presentations from experts.

o With lots of national and industry level sustainability
targets and guidelines it'd be great to try to answer a few
questions:
o Are businesses listening / what makes them listen most - is
it government guidelines, industry requirements (eg Bord
Bia), pressure from supply chain partners, pressure from
consumers?
o Is the information and action getting to the right people - is
sustainability still a CSR project or is action now being led
by operations and strategic teams?
o What are the highest priority areas? There's lots involved
here from energy use through water use, sourcing and
transport to waste - do businesses know what the lowest
MARCH 31
hanging fruit is for them?
o Where can collaboration make this easier? Targets for each
business are all well and good but to achieve sustained
change and arguably the most cost effective / efficient
change there needs to be collaboration through the chain.

The ECR mission is one of collaboration and so is well
positioned to help retailers, manufacturers and other
stakeholders complete successful circular economy projects.
The Retail and Consumer Goods sector needs to rapidly
reinvent the way consumer products are sold.
Attention needs to be given to the work being done as
part of the EU Circular Economy Package, the global
resource & waste management crisis and the deep
transformation of consumer expectations and behaviours.
The ECR Community Circular Economy Group was
recently established to increase general awareness and
knowledge of the circular economy in the Retail and
Consumer Goods Sector.
The group has hosted a series of three webinars to present
the trends emerging around the EU Circular Economy
Package, identify new opportunities offered by the
possible “closure of the cycles” in the value chain of the
products and to inspire the development of actions and
strategies in partnership with the key partners of the

EFFICIENT CONSUMER RESPONSE (ECR)? A Collaboration ModelA major benefit of being part of ECR Community is
being part of the ECR network with ECR Nationals,
expert groups & members.
This network allows ECR Nationals to share the most
effective national projects often culminating in their
adoption.
These local networks are the most widespread
collection of retailers, consumer goods manufacturers
and service providers for the grocery sector in each
of their local domains. By aggregating the local
networks, a powerful network of companies
throughout the global grocery sector is formed
encompassing domestic operators and multi-national
concerns alike.
This massive network allows ECR Community to
ECR NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS develop relevant output, create widespread
awareness and encourage global adoption.
30ECR – A COLLABORATION
MODEL
The purpose of ECR is to facilitate companies & trading

ECR Vision
During its existence, thousands of companies have
contributed to and implemented this unique model of
excellence in collaboration across the consumer industry.
This collaboration should be within the confines of the
