05 EFP (European Film Promotion) is delighted to welcome you to our EUROPE! UMBRELLA at the Toronto International Film Festival 2018. EFP is a network of 38 European member organisations representing their national films and talent on an international level. Under the EFP flag, they come together to promote the diversity and the spirit of European cinema. 14 EFP member organisations are participating at our third Umbrella at TIFF representing the films from their countries that have been selected by the festival. Another eleven EFP member organisations are present with their own stands at the Industry Centre in the Hyatt Hotel.

Eurimages promotes independent filmmaking by providing financial support to feature-length fiction, animation and documentary films. In doing so, it encourages co-operation between professionals established in different countries. Eurimages has a total annual budget of €26 million. This financial envelope derives essentially from the contributions of the member states as well as returns on the loans it grants. Eurimages has four support schemes: • feature film co-production • the promotion of co-production • theatrical distribution • exhibition Eurimages promotes independent filmmaking through a number of collaboration agreements with various festivals and film markets and has also adopted a strategy to promote gender equality in the film industry.

FSS contributes towards additional promotional activities, covering up to 50 per cent of marke- ting costs at the festivals of Sydney, Sundance, and Toronto (TIFF and Hot Docs) as well as at the FILMART, Asian Film Market and American film sales support outside of europe Film Market.
On average, 45 per cent of the FSS supported films are being sold, in particular to North and South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
EFP additionally offers FSS for the promotion of Swiss films outside of Europe, thanks to new international measures by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, the Media Desk Suisse and SWISS FILMS.
