Fitness Ball Chair
                         Set-Up/Assembly, Care and Safety Guide
SET-UP
1. Remove the Aviva Fitness Chair and Fitness Ball from the box and check for shipping damage.
It is normal for the fitness ball to have slight creases or fold marks when first inflated, and it is
normal for the chair and ball to have a strong plastic smell when new.
2. Allow ball to reach room temperature before inflating.
3. Screw inflator tip onto tip of pump. The inflator tip can also be used with most standard
bicycle pumps. Insert inflator tip into hole in Fitness Ball. Inflate the ball until very firm.
Initially the ball may seem too small for the chair. 24-48 hours after the initial inflation,
the ball will "relax" and you will be able to top off with air to full size. This is normal.
4. DO NOT OVERINFLATE THE FITNESS BALL: The inflated fitness ball should not touch the
metal support bars that surround the ball when you are sitting on the chair. Over-inflating the ball
can damage or break the bars and void the warranty. To raise the chair an additional 5 CM, the
Aviva Fitness Ball-Chair Height Extension Adjusters are also available [sold separately].
5. Remove inflator tip from ball and immediately insert plug into hole. Your Aviva Fitness Ball
Chair is now ready for use. Slight leakage may occur over time. Top off when necessary.
6. Assemble chair as shown on the fllowing pages.
7. Place ball in the chair base. Sit on the top center of ball chair with feet flat on floor and shins
vertical. Thighs should be parallel to the floor. If necessary, deflate ball to desired height,
maintaining adequate firmness.
8. The Aviva Fitness Ball Chair has new polyurethane coated lock-on wheels which are designed
to be safe on all flooring surfaces, carpeting, wooden floors, etc. If your floor is a new wood floor
it is always best to test the chair on the floor to ensure it will not mark or scratch.
9. The Aviva Fitness Ball Chair is equipped with new weight activated "lock-on wheels," which
automatically lock the chair in place when weight is placed on the chair for improved safety.

1. Positive Posture
Maintaining correct posture is important to good health and well being and is important to the Aviva
concept of integrating health promoting products into your lifestyle. Correct posture helps reduce
stress and fatigue and may help prevent injury from physical exercise and from motion required to
perform the basic activities of daily life. The Aviva Fitness Ball Chair is a great way to develop and
maintain proper posture. Sit upright with feet flat on the floor and shins vertical. Thighs should be
parallel to the floor. If necessary, deflate ball to desired height, maintaining adequate firmness, or
add the 5mm leg extensions to raise the chair, available from Aviva.

2. Side Stretch
This stretch helps realign the body, reduce stiffness and improve circulation. It also helps increase
lung capacity. Try this movement whenever you feel lethargic or tightness in the upper body. Sitting
upright, raise arms overhead and shoulder-width apart, keeping elbows, neck and shoulders relaxed.
Lean upper body and head to the left, arms reaching as tall as you can. Keep chest lifted and breathe
evenly. Hold for 5 long breaths. Repeat 2-3 times and then repeat on right side.
3. Twist
This movement has a toning and massaging effect which helps improve circulation in the
abdomina area. Sitting in a tall, positive posture, raise arms to shoulder height. Bend elbows
and bring hands together in front of your chest. Keep neck and shoulders relaxed. Turn upper
body and head to the left. Breathe evenly and comfortably keeping abdominal muscles relaxed.
Hold for 5 long breaths. Repeat 2-3 times and then repeat on right the right side.

4. Forward Bend
Sitting upright, inhale slowly and raise arms overhead. Exhale and bend forward from the
waist lowering your upper body to your thighs and hands to the floor. Keep neck loose and
drop comfortably between knees. Relax shoulders and hold for 10 slow breaths. Release
and repeat 2-3 times.

                                                  Warning!
*Do not exceed the maximum load capacity
of the chair. Possibility of serious injury if
                                                  chair is used improperly.
*Do not stand on chair, and use on level surface.
5. Stretch Leg Forward Bend
This movement is similar to the previous one but will help stretch and lengthen hamstring muscles.
Sit upright with legs extended forward on your heels, hip-width apart. Keep neck and shoulders
relaxed. Keep spine long and supple and do not lock knees. Bend forward from the waist lowering
your upper body to your thighs or as far as is comfortable. Reach forward with your hands and place
them alongside your feet. Keep toes pointed up. Hold for 10 breaths. Release and repeat 2-3 times

6. Hip Stretches
Sitting upright, cross your left leg across your right knee with ankle on the outside of the knee. Keep
neck and shoulders relaxed. Inhale, and on exhale, bend forward from the waist lowering your upper
body to your thigh and hands to the floor. Let arms relax and hang loose from the shoulders. Hold for
5 long breaths. Release and repeat 2-3 times.
7. Hip Flexor
Begin by straddling the chair with one leg forward over the ball and the other leg back. Make
sure that your hips are positioned over the center of the ball. Place one hand on the back
of the chair to help keep your balance and the other hand on your hip. Your front leg
should be slightly bent at the knee. Inhale, and on exhale step back with the rear leg,
lowering hips onto the ball. Stabilize with the front leg and stretch out the rear leg, balanceing
on ball and your toes. Breathe deeply for 5 breaths. Repeat 2~3 times. Repeat on other side.

8. Extended Side Stretch
Kneel next to the ball chair with your right arm on the ball for support. Extend your left leg
sideways away from the ball. Keep neck and shoulders relaxed while you reach overhead
and to the other side of the ball with the left arm. Steady yourself with your right arm on the
ball. Keep your right leg firm and upright with hip and knee at a 90 degree angle to the floor.
Hold this stretch for 10 deep breaths. Repeat on the other side.
9. Wide-Leg Forward Bend
Sit upright with your back straight and tall, with your legs spread in front of you and
your feet 3-4 feet apart. Keep your neck and shoulders relaxed. Inhale, and on exhale
bend forward from the waist, dropping torso between your thighs. Reach to the floor
with hands and elbows. Keep feet flexed with toes pointing to the sky. Hold for 10 breaths.
Repeat 2-3 times.

10. Back Stretch (Prone)
Face the chair with one hand on the ball and the other on the back of the chair. Gently lower
yourself onto the ball in a prone position with hips centered directly over the center of the ball.
Reach forward with both arms to slowly lengthen the spine. Extend your legs behind you with
feet shoulder width apart. Use your feet and hands to maintain balance. Keep your neck and
shoulders relaxed. Close your eyes and breathe deeply for a few minutes. Repeat 2-3 times.
WHY CHOOSE A GOOD CHAIR?
People working long hours sitting on
a normal chair often suffer from back
pain due to the static nature of most
chair designs where there is no mov-
ement. The lack of movement may
result in weak core (abdominal) and
                            back muscles.

Sitting on the Aviva Fitness Ball Chair can improve
spinal health by increasing circulation between
the intervertebral disks, which may help reduce
            back and hip pain.

HOW DOES THE AVIVA FIT NESS BALL CHAIR HELP TO
IM PROVE SPINAL HEALTH AND REDUCE PAIN ?
For those who spend long hours in an office it is important to choose a well designed
chair to assist in improved spinal health. The Aviva Fitness Ball Chair helps strengthen
core (abdominal) and back muscles, while the gentle bouncing motion assists with
lymph drainage, similar to bouncing on a rebounder or mini trampoline. Sitting on a
fitness ball chair can help keep stiff back muscles from locking and going into spasm,
as the gentle movement increases intervertebral disk circulation. Ball chairs may be
effective in helping to ease back pain, while strengthening weak back muscles.
The Aviva Fitness Ball Chair can be used anywhere in your home or office; anywhere
you sit. The Aviva Fitness Ball Chair fits the Aviva concept of integrating health promoting
products into your lifestyle. You have to sit, so why not sit on a chair that enhances your
health and wellness?
