OPTIONAL PROGRAMMING FOR SCHOOL-AGE (K-5) CHILDREN:
Once again, we are offering a chance for your school-age children to enjoy a day at camp, exploring
and playing in the outdoors. This program, An X-STREAM adventure, is for children (girls and boys) in
Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Your child will need to bring good walking shoes (no sandals, Crocs, heels or open toes), wear socks,
a bandana and clothing to protect against the elements. The temperatures can be quite chilly and
unpredictable and it is often much cooler at Camp Ginger Cascades than where you are traveling from.
This program will run from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Drop off starts at 7:45 a.m. and campers
should be picked up by 5:45 p.m.

Cost for the children’s program is $10 per child and includes a walking taco lunch and two snacks,
which they will be preparing. (Parents have the option to send their campers a lunch.)

Extra options for children:
Children of participants who choose the Friday overnight camping option are able
to stay with their parent in Rainbow, under the parent’s supervision at a cost of $2 per person.
                                                                                                         2
The Ed Whitmire Scholarship Fund
Ed Whitmire was a dedicated trainer for both the Pisgah and Hornets’ Nest Girl
Scout councils for many years. After his death in 2005, the Girl Scouts Carolinas
Peaks to Piedmont Ed Whitmire Scholarship Fund was created in his honor, as a
way of continuing his work of training and inspiring adult Girl Scout volunteers.
Each year, the fund is fed and nurtured by fundraising at our three AWESOME Retreats. If you have
donated or purchased items offered at the auctions at these events, YOU are helping to continue Ed’s
work. Thank you!
If you receive a scholarship to attend learning events, you are also helping to continue his legacy.
Please don’t let financial issues keep you from the fun, fellowship and training available to you here
at GSCP2P! P2P registered adults in good standing may apply for up to 75% of registration and course
fees (not commemorative items). All requested information must be completed fully and submitted at
least 10 days prior to the learning event registration deadline (October 11) in order to be considered for
a scholarship. Once approved, a scholarship code will be provided to allow online registration for the
