LMSD NEWS – January 2021
Welcome back to a new year and the second half of our dance season! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday break.
The employees at LMSD want to extend a warm thank you for the many thoughtful gifts, kind words, and cards that were
showered upon us this Christmas! Your generosity is greatly appreciated by all the instructors. We hope you had a fun and
relaxing break with your family and friends.
We are excited to resume in-person classes at the studio on
Monday, January 4, 2021. Please note the new guidelines in place
and links with more information below! By working together to
follow the guidelines, we help our chances of being able to
continue to meet in person moving forward! Thank you in advance
for your assistance and cooperation in following the guidelines.
• Please do not attend any in-person classes if you are experiencing Covid-19 Symptoms (or
other illness), have tested positive or have a family member who is positive, or have been
exposed to anyone who is positive. Please attend via Zoom instead (assuming you are
feeling well enough to participate). Please notify the office of your absence and reason.
• Masks must be worn prior to entering the studio, and at all times in the studio
• Wash hands upon entering studio
• Use lobby numbers to wait to be admitted to class/follow social distancing guidelines
• New guidelines from the state of MN and the MSHSL require masks at all times during
classes/practices. If you would like more information regarding these guidelines, please see

We recommend purchasing a mask that is made for athletics if you have not already done
so. We have found that the mask you choose to you wear can make a difference in comfort
level when exercising.
We will continue to update you as more information is made available regarding any
changes to the current guidelines.
1|PageJANUARY MAIN POINTS:
• We have postponed our Winter Recitals until Saturday, February 13, 2021.
• Dress rehearsal and parent meetings have also been moved to February 8, 9, 10, and 11.
• Remember…you have until the end of the day January 3rd to order make-up (optional for rec
dancers).
• We DO have dance class on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 18th!
• Payments are due by January 15. If you want to process your own payment, please do so by January
14. Otherwise, we will process any balances due on accounts on January 15 and you will receive an e-
mail receipt.
ACCESSING CLASS ON-LINE VIA ZOOM:
Remember that if you ever need to access your child’s dance on-line, you can do so by following the
following steps:
• Log-in to your LMSD dance account
• Press on the three little bars on upper left
• Press on “View All My Classes” under left (Actions) column
• Locate your child’s class (being sure you are on the correct day/time if you have more than one
class)
• Press on the blue lettering under “location” – this is your link to the Zoom class
• Log-on early and wait to be admitted
• If you have technical difficulties do not worry! We will also continue to e-mail out video links after
each class for at home practice
INSTRUCTOR/SCHEDULE UPDATES:
Ms. Dani and her family welcomed an addition over break. Austyn Leila Hutt was born on December
21, 2020 at 10:07 PM. She weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz, and was 20 ¾ inches long. Congratulations!
Ms. Dani will be on maternity leave for the months of January and February. Ms. Tamara will be covering her
classes.
Starting on Monday, January 11th and moving forward, the following changes to class
schedules/teachers will begin:
Sapphires will meet 6:00-7:30 on BOTH Mondays and Thursdays.
Crystals will meet 5:45-7:15 on BOTH Mondays and Thursdays.
Ms. Tamara (Dani) and Ms. MJ Will swap classes on Thursday evenings.
We are waiting for more details on the Monticello High School dance team updated schedule. It is
possible we may hold Diamond classes earlier on the Mondays when the dance team has meets since
most of the Sapphires are affected, and then we will schedule a make-up class/day for the Sapphires. Or, we may
swap Diamond and Sapphire class times on those days (possibly Jan. 25 and Feb 1). We will send updates to the
Sapphires and Diamonds once we have more info from the dance team coach and a final plan is made.
CORE VALUES: We will continue the month of January working on mindfulness and well-being.
Remember to record any time your child participates at home in an activity on our google sheet. We will be
drawing the name of our winner for a prize at the end of the month!

2|PageJANUARY SCHEDULE:
We WILL have dance classes on Monday, January 18th, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Many schools do not have
class that day. Remember that our dance class schedule does NOT always follow the school calendar. If
Monticello schools cancel school, dismiss early, or cancel evening activities due to inclement weather,
LMSD will plan to hold classes via Zoom.
PAYMENTS:
Please remember that monthly payments are due by January 15th.
COSTUMES, HAIR, AND MAKE-UP:
COSTUMES: To ensure your child’s safety and a finished look, please remember to make the necessary
alterations to your child’s costume before his/her performances.
HAIR/MAKE-UP: Please keep in mind that recreational dancers are expected to curl hair and pull it up for
performances (unless directed differently by instructor). Dancers should also wear make-up, which
helps define their facial features and makes them more visible to the audience. In order for the
audience to see the dancers’ faces, the make-up needs to be applied rather heavily. Take your child’s age into
account when deciding what make-up to have them wear and how much to apply. To help the dancers look
more uniform, we ask that you stay in the following color scheme: Taupe/tan/sparkly eye shadow, pink
blush, bright (TRUE) red lipstick, black eyeliner, and black mascara.
Make-up can be ordered through your LMSD on-line account by January 3rd:
Please make your make-up order BY midnight SUNDAY, JANUARY 3, 2021.
We have changed to a new make-up company this season. This company gives price breaks as you order more
items. You may order items al la carte if needed/desired. However, you will find that the kits are a much better
value. The kits that include everything (including black mascara and eyeliner) are the best value.
LMSD is ordering a bulk order to save on individual shipping. If you miss the order deadline, please email Lucy.
Additional shipping will be applied to any late orders.
Recreational dancers – make up orders are OPTIONAL. You can instead purchase your own make-up in the
following colors: tan and cream eye shadow, pink blush, TRUE red lipstick, black mascara, and black eyeliner.
Competition dancers – you MUST purchase the appropriate lipstick colors. You may opt to use your eye
shadow / blush from last season from Yofi (although it may be more cost effective to just purchase the kit with
everything included). PLEASE CHECK THE LIST BELOW TO SEE WHICH LIPSTICK COLORS YOU
NEED FOR THIS SEASON.

Press “Visit On-line Store” (right column)
Select any make-up items you with to purchase and ADD to cart.
(You may select a kit that fits your team’s needs, and/or al la carte items.)
DEADLINE: Sunday, January 3, 2021.
Be sure to go to check out and MAKE PAYMENT. The order will be automatically canceled if you do not pay
for the items at the time of your order.

LIPSTICK COLORS NEEDED FOR EACH TEAM/CLASS:
Recreational classes: RED AUDACITY
Turquoise and Crystals: Shiraz AND Golden Sunset lipsticks.
Quartz, Emeralds, and Onyx need: Shiraz AND Red Audacity lipsticks.
Opals, Amethysts, Sapphires, Alpha, and Contemporary need: Shiraz
Diamonds need: Barely There AND Shiraz
COMPETITION TEAM UPDATES:
BIRTH CERTIFICATES:
If you have not already turned in a copy of your child’s birth certificate, PLEASE DO SO AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE! We need a copy of ALL COMPETITION DANCERS’ birth certificates to prove their ages at our
competitions this season.
EXTRA FRIDAY NIGHT PRACTICES:
Separate e-mail will be coming out with a breakdown of the schedule for:
January 15 and 29.
COMPETITION Make-Up:
You should have ordered the appropriate make-up through your on-line LMSD account. You DO need the
matching lipsticks for your team. If you missed ordering (by end of the day January 3rd), please e-mail Lucy ASAP.
Jewelry/Shoes/Tights update: All jewelry items ordered through LMSD on-line dance accounts have been
ordered. If you missed ordering any items, please e-mail Lucy ASAP.
